OK, I imagine I'll get a few of you guys with answers like, the last time I was stung is when my signigicant other spoke harshly to me, and stuff like that. If you want to go that way, that's fine. But I'm talking more along the lines of bees, scorpions, wasps, whatever you have in your neck of the woods. How was it treated and did you have to seek medical help? I'm thinking scorpion stings might require some medical aid...

The last time I was stung was also the very first time I was stung and it was by a wasp. Up until that point I was absolutely terrified of wasps, I had a fear of being stung because I had never been stung!
I was up town and one came after the perfume I had on, it was on my neck and I panicked and swatted at it, of course it stung my neck. It hurt, but you know it was not as bad as I had feared. I also found out that I was not allergic to them! I did not require any medical aid though it went within a couple of hours.

Its been a long time ago since I was literally stung. I think it was a wasp but can't really remember. As far as words, it would have to be my mother. She has some mental health problems and she is mad at my husband and I cause we put her in the hospital so they could get her back on her meds. She refused them from me. She accuses me and
my husband of some really bad things and some days she is as sweet as she can be. I know its her mental state but it still stings.

It was pretty bad but I know it had to be worse for her. She has bipolar but also with paranoid schizoid affective disorder ( schizophrenia, but without all the symptoms). I have depression and I know I have to take my meds or I make everybody misereble.

I'm so sorry. I have never had to be hospitalized for my bipolar, but I can't imagine the pain of loved ones having to make such a hard decision. I can't even imagine trying to be around a bipolar who is not on some sort of medication or therapy. It's just not worth it, to them or the family they have the effect on.

Last time I was stung I was seven or eight, and I think it was a hornet, or maybe a plain old bee, I don't really remember. Haven't been stung since. I... sat there and whined for about half an hour if I recall correctly, that's about as far as 'medical treatment' ever got.

My last episode wasn't really a sting - but it creeped me out big time.
I was in WalMart shopping for shirts for the hubs. While he was trying things on I walked along the racks and picked out more for him. When we got to the check out I felt something digging into my neck and thinking it was the label of my ball cap, touched the spot and gave it a push up under the rim. Well I tried to give it a push. My finger felt something hard and squishy at the same time. I started to get agitated as I didn't know what it was and it felt so weird. The lady behind me in line reached up and pinched the spot and low and behold had pulled out a TICK! It freaked me out big time. A tick! I must have picked it up going through the racks in the men's department, where the shirts were hanging in long vertical rows. The cashier called the manager and his attitude was "Nothing we can do", and I've not been back to that store since.

I'm pretty cool with all kinds of creepy crawlies too, but ticks give me the willies! Something about all that bloodsucking and swelling up with it I guess.*shudders*!
What really 'ticked' me off though was the attitude of the manager of that WalMart. He made me feel like it was my fault. The funny thing was, that right in the middle of my telling him it wasn't the first time I'd found some kind of insect in the store, a ROACH crawled right across his shoe! No sh*t! I about fell over laughing which 'ticked' HIM off! ROFL

Hello AmbiePam,
This is quite the random question... lol but it makes a convesation and allows alot of people to respond because we all know how a sting feels, whether that being a sting from burning your hand on the stove that your mom would always nag at you to get away from as a child to that sting you mentioned in the original post as being spoke harshly too... The last time I was stung (literally) was when I was a little toddler at my cousins wedding... thinking I was cool in my suit in the 100 degree weather I insisted on being the door stop of the evening and greet everyone I knew and didn't know into the church. While I was leaning against the door though, I remember a burning sensation growing on my butt. Low and behold, ther was a wasp that I leaned against and aggravated so it tooks its roll in being the mean and nasty wasp it was. In return I killed it. I know, an injury for a like just doesn't seem fare, but it really got me where it counts... lol As a treatment I went to my mom in half cry, half scream and she directed me to the sink where I just washed off and had to man it out. It was quite the evening, but all in all, my cousin got married... lol Hope this answers your question... bet you didn't expect a story. Oh well... lol

When I was about eight or nine years old, my arm
was stung (bit) by a spider. I felt a tiny pain
at the time and nothing major. Then pain started
shooting up my arm and I started screaming and ran inside.
My arm was completely paralyzed (bent up toward me)
for almost half an hour.
I screamed the entire time. It hurt that bad!
I have never been so scared in my life!
After about half an hour the pain subsided and my arm
could move again.

I haven't been stung by a bee in several years. I usually stay the heck away from them! (They are not on my list of "nice" bugs!)
I do get bitten by mosquitos constantly however.
Fortunately neither of these require medical attention!

You know what until this summer i have not been stung by anything since i was a kid . This summer they all seem out to get me . Back in may I stepped on a wasp before getting in my swimming pool . At first it felt like i stepped on something sharp, and then I felt it all over my foot, and the next thing that happened is it itched like crazy . Then, I got stung by a bee while swimming and i felt the itch and sting more . Also, get this last week I grabbed my swim suit from the back porch and folded in on my arm, and 3 bees were hiding in there . My gosh did that hurt, and my arm swelled

Frequently I get stung by fire ants here. They are everywhere. I try to stay on pavement whenever possible, but when working it the yard its hard to see them. Those little suckers hurt too. They don't sting just once, but multiple times while also sending out a signal for the others to do likewise. They cause nasty blisters and can result in scaring. I have numerous scars on my feet and legs from them. Luckily I haven't found a scorpion yet. And while I have heard of killer bees killing in my area I haven't run into any. I did find 5 tarantulas last year, but killed them before being bitten. I've seen a few snakes as well, even had one slither across my foot last spring in the garden, but don't guess those count as stings. LOL

Hi ambie, Great way to start a discussion!
Well, I was stung by a wasp many years ago and I found
out that I am highly allergic. I have to carry an
epipen in case it happens again. I made it to the
doctor but not before I had a life threatening reaction.
I got stung by a yellowjack while I was standing at the
busstop. I was wearing a floral shirt (which attracts them)
and it went under the shirt and stung me under my arm.
It felt like a pinch! I'm thankfull that I'm not as
allergic to the them as I am bees, and wasps. Didn't
have the epipen the and thankfully I was fine, just sore.

The last thing I was stung by was a bee. It was just a few days ago, and it was the first time I was ever stung by a bee, and I didn't know if I was allergic since it runs in the family. Thank goodness I didn't have an allergic reaction!
I didn't seek medical help, I just swam around in my pool and it felt better. xD

I got stung by a no see em, and I did not do anything except wait until the sting went away. I have also got it from a mosquito but it did not hurt as they do not like me that much and try to avoid me. Mosquitoes and bugs do not bother me that much. If they do, I will put on a little calamine lotion or sometimes vinegar. I heard the latter is good at getting rid of the sting.

The last thing I was stung by was a honey bee and it happened about 2 months ago. This is the first time I have ever been stung by a bee. It was my own fault though, I didn't look when I should have and I put my hand right on top of a bee that was sitting on a post. As bees were swarming below that area (see picture below) I should have been cautious, but as these bees are tame I thought nothing of it. I had my hand over the poor bee for a few seconds before he stung me. And I knew I had been stung at that moment. It hurt, but not as bad as I thought it would. That is, at least not right away. When I had pulled the stinger out I guess I squeezed some of the sack into my finger, because it started to burn. The next day my finger was hard as a rock. I didn't seek medical attention, but my husband and I did watch my finger in case it got any worse.
PS The picture I added (if it works) I took around the same time as when I got stung. It happened right next to this old faucet.

I was stung by a bee on my ankle 2 weeks ago when I was cleaning old leaves out of my yard. The bees were living in a pile of old leaves that were turning to mulch and I started picking up the pile and one got me. Owwweee! It hurt. And then it itched for the next week.

I think it was probably a bee and it was LONG time ago. I am not allergic to bees or wasps and I don't recall having to treat it at all, I did put ice on it because it bugged me. I think I've been bitten by an ant or two more recently, I just smashed them flat lol.

The last thing I was stung by was a good old-fashioned bee. I was outside for a PE class, and i felt something land on my leg. Sure enough, it was a bee. My running must have disturbed it, and it stung me. Luckily, I didn't have a reaction or anything like that. But, it did hurt for a while!
