i will first check if the beggar is really incapable of doing a job and earn his living. if i think he can do a job even with some disability then i actually tell him that he can do that and give hime some money. if i think he is a lazy man who is begging just because he hates work, i dont even look at him.

its a good thing to be generous..but when it comes to beggars..you cant really be sure if they're the real thing.. i prefer giving food if i have some with me.. or buy them food if i have the time.. most of the time bad people hold these beggars to collect money..i mean, they use these people to get money and even treat them badly.. so if i do give beggars money..its like feeding evil.. if i do want to feed the beggars..i'll give them food..^_^

I always do exactly the same way. Fake beggars are everywhere in today's society. So your mercy was taken as fool in turn.

I do often help needy, handicapped and destitute persons,to the best of my capacity.I consider charity and philanthrophy,as a humanitarian practice. However, I do not blindly support and encourage the pursuit/practice of begging by able-bodied,well-to-do and lazy people.

I don't run across them much these days. But when I was younger I used to run errands in the city for my work. This meant walking from the train station to the office. Along the way there were a couple of "regular" beggars that manned their corners. They were pleasantly mannered and would say thank you anytime I gave them extra change I might have in my pockets. Once, on a whim, I purchased some apples and a small container of cider from the Farmer's Market and gave it to the woman beggar. Her face just lit up. I remember hearing stories that many of the regular beggars you see actually aren't so bad off. That they have bank accounts and deposit the money they glean from people. They just choose to beg rather than work a job. Whether that's true or not, I'll never know.
