Muffin Top anyone?

I just have to wonder what these girls are thinking... When I go out I see so many girls and even young women wearing clothing that looks like they are clearly 2 sizes too small for them. The classic hip hugger jeans or shorts (which I love, just not skin tight), with a short cropped top that is like a second skin. Here's the clincher; there is a nice roll of fat hanging where the skin is exposed :( What is wrong with these girls/women, doesn't anyone own a full length mirror? Surely they can't think they look attractive. I read somewhere that it is because plus sizes cost too much, which I think is a crock. These women are not plus sized, they just wear too small clothing. Do they really have such a distorted view of their own appearances that they just can't see how awful this looks? Maybe it is just me, but I hate the "Muffin Top" look as this fashion trend has been named. What are your views on this? Are you tired of seeing this look everywhere you go? Or is it just me?

I feel the same as you. I can't believe they choose to put their fat pockets on display like that. Like you said they are not really fat, just out of shape and flabby. But they choose to show off that flabiness. I don't get it. I dress very carefully to hide my flaws. If my clothing is showing a not so flattering part of me I don't wear it, I grab something else. I often look at women like you are mentioning and think, "Does she really think she looks good with that outfit?" If my stomach was sticking out like that I would be embarraced.

I would feel embarrassed also. I would think that everyone was looking at my stomach (and they probably would be). I am hoping that it fades because I would hate for young women to think it is okay to look this way. If they want to be flabby that's fine, but please hide it! I thought looking fit was always "In"? What a fashion statement. Ugh.

It really is a shame what girls and women wear these days, do they not see that it is not flattering. I dread when my granddaughters grow up and what they will wear. One of my kitchen aids is the same way, she is young and just had a baby.

Hi Irishmist :) Well, let's hope the trend fades before your grandchildren grow to that age. I have a friend, her daughter is 29 with 2 kids. She is a really beautiful woman. I went to visit her with my friend and yep, there it was the hanging flab in a skin tight shirt with no bra and tight hip hugger shorts. She was having guest that evening and just said I hope that you don't mind, but I don't feel like putting on a bra...hmmm...lol The woman happens to work full time and is college educated with a professional job, so I guess it hits all walks of life :(

It's not just "girls" but women as well and this is a common thing in my area....it's almost the accepted norm to have skin tight pants/jeans, skin tight tops that are low cut and the boobs nearly popping out and on top of that the rolls of flesh you can see...urgh! It's hideous, grotesque in my view. It used to be, if a woman wasn't exactly model thin that a woman would hide the extra fat, not so anymore. I do happen to be thin, but even I'm conscientious if I show some flab and hid it...LOL

Yes, it is distasteful. I am thin also but not perfect. Any woman wearing too tight clothing is going to have something hanging over the sides. Ugh..how ugly. Like you I try to hide it not enhance it. I see it everywhere here and yes, women also. I have seen really attractive women and then the flab..ugh. I just hope the trend fades away soon. Thanks Pye :)
