What kind of things do you sell on ebay? Just things you have around the house? Is Ebay a good place to start a small business and earn a little extra money? or a lot of extra money?

My husband buys and sells Harley motorcycles on Ebay and also buys and sells parts. He's building two Choppers right now so some of the parts he sells are parts he couldn't use or, if he gets somthing for a real steal, he grabs it up and resells it for a profit. I think that you can make money on Ebay but, in my opinion, you have to have a product or a source of items to sell. I know a woman who buys the contents of abandoned storage units and sells the contents but over half of what she gets is junk that she then has to get rid of.

I totally agree with you when you say you have to have a product or a source of items to sell. You can't make much money with just things around the house. My sister and I thought about starting a small ebay business selling Italian charms and body jewelry. The storage space would be small and the shipping would be minimal but we thought the sales would be good. Italian charms are not as popular anymore though so I don't think that would be great thing to sell now.

It's definitely a good place to make money but you've gotta know what to sell. Like I responded to the feedback score discussion you started, I have 2 accounts. The business a/c ( ID: tkm_tech ) I sell IT stuff, new, used/ refurbished. My personal a/c ( ID: zweeb82 ) is a more general one - ranging from clothes, key chains, badges, ionizers, diecast toys, collector items, bags, etc

I am going to open a store on ebay and sell records. I'd like to expand a little more but I want to see how the records sell first. I was thinking of boxed sets and music posters too but records are easy to find cheap, .75 at Goodwill. I could maybe find boxed sets on sale at the cd store and posters too. I dont expect to make a killing but I'd like to make some decent money.

I have sold a mix of things on ebay. Mostly now though I sell my crafts. I hve an auction on now for a polymer clay baby. I also sell my teddy bears that I make on ebay. It is very hard to make a living on ebay now. Mainly cause there are so many sellers on there now. I have had a hard time of it and I have been on ebay for 6 years (two different id's I changed ID's when i moved to FL). I can go for months with making no money at all but still having to pay listing fees. The fees keep getting higher too. Doesn't make sense as there are so many sellers now you think the fees would come down. I use a listing server called auctiva to keep my listing costs down cause I can put as many pics as I want on there without having to pay for each additional pic.

If you get paying customers then it will give you enough profit to buy what you want. If you don't get any paying customers if it will cause you to have a deficit and you will end up losing money.

I do not have any idea about selling products and services at ebay because for me I do not buy products which I could not visibly see or touch it. But since business is a risk, you will definitely venture any form of business venture that might be of your interest to gain revenues. So, no harm in trying. Good luck!
