What kind of music do you usually listen to?

I like all sorts of music - my parents are older, so I was familiar with all the big bands, band leaders and singers of their era. Of course, I grew up in the 60s and 70s, so I like much of the music of that era, too (soft rock, pop rock and "bubblegum" rock mainly, as well as the folk music that enjoyed a resurgence during those decades). But, my music of choice now, as far as the radio goes, is contemporary country. From Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson thru Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney (with or without Uncle Kracker), Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith and a host of others. I do enjoy them - I get a real kick out of one of the newer women in country, Gretchen Wilson. She doesn't just sing - she has FUN! But, on my profile page are other songs I like to listen to periodically, so I created a play list in order to still get to. I don't want to be tied to listening to an "oldies" station in order to listen.

Hey there sultrybabe, I love how you are so open to what other people listen to... I, myself, am a person who loves alternative music though. I have never been a fan of the average radio music so I stuck to the less played music out there. It is amazing. It can be calming, it can be motivating, it can be heartbreaking. That is the genre of music I love. Don't get me wrong though... I love every style of music. My Ipod is filled to the brim with any and every genre out there, just alternative has my heart. I really think you should look into. Some good artists that I have fallen in love with are The Cab, City and Colour, The Classic Crime, and Cool Hand Luke... sorry I just went through my itunes and picked the first four so they are all C bands... lol happy listening

Good discussion! I wrote something earlier about music. I love music! I listen to a little bit of everything. I think its good to like a variety of music. I have always liked music but im one of those type of people who like songs i can either dance to, sing to or just relax and listen to when i want to relax after a long day with the kids.

I do listen to classic light rock, to the music of the 70's and the 80's. They make me relaxed and give me good mood. They calm down also my stress.
