As pet owners, I know that we often have to deal with the issue of what to do with our pets when they pass away. If anybody is considering burying their pets in a pet cemetery, I just want to warn you to be careful about what legal rights you have to the burial site. Where I live, there was a pet cemetery for a number of years, but the owner sold the property. It turns out that the pet owners don't have any legal rights to the burial spaces of their pets. They don't actually have any interest in the real property. Some of these people spent several hundred dollars for a burial space and grave marker and now the property is going to be redeveloped as some other use. You may want to check in your state whether there are any laws that protect you if you use a pet cemetery. It turns out in my state that no such laws exist for pet cemeteries though they do exist for human cemeteries. This is why I now have my pets cremated and the cremains returned to me when they pass away.
