I can't believe the luck of this girl...For the 4th of July we went down to spend time with my mom. At the fireworks show there was a raffle. I didn't know anything about it. My mom had taken the kids over to the water play area, and I was resting. A lady with a clipboard came up and asked if I had any children ages 7 to 10 with me who would like a chance at winning a prize. I said sure why not. So I signed her up. Then I hunted my mom down to let her know Lex needed to be by the stage at the right time. On the way back from the water land, my mom and her walked behind the stage where they saw two brand new bikes. A man standing there said they were the raffle and she could enter, it was free. My mom thought about what I had said, and almost dropped another raffle in for...you know, tweaking the odds for her. But she thought a lesson could be learned. So she told Lex she should pray. She also let her know that sometimes the answer is no, but that you can never expect your prayers to be answered with a yes if you never ask them. So they bothe said a little prayer, then off they went. Just before the raffle started, we all decided an icecream would be nice. Luck doesn't run to think in my family, so when I heard the DJ start the happenings, I tried to divert my kids attention from the stage. They took a long time with the boys bike, making a fuss and what not. Just as Lex and I were ordering our cones I heard our last name. I thought, hey there's a kid here with our last name. Just I said that to her, I heard her first name...it's pretty common, so I made sure to put her middle initial on the raffle. I then heard it all, and grabbed her up...running through a mass of people, waving my hands above my head..shouting "SHE'S HERE, WE'RE HEAR, SHE'S COMING!!" A brand new 24 inch 18 speed...how cool is that?? The past five weeks, my three oldest have been attending a day camp. This past Thursday they had a big party for all the families. As we walked in the registration ladies handed us raffle tickets. One was for our food, then the other end got put into a bucket for some raffles toward the end. Lex was the only one of the four kids who held onto her ticket, Dad held the rest. About an hour before the thing gets over I see a few of the staff members riding new bikes up to the stage. The kids don't even realize what's going on, so I don't make a big deal about it..you know that luck thing....whatever. The first ticet gets thrown out after about 6 or 7 calls for the number. My girls' best friend wins the third bike. Another number gets called and every body shouts hooray, another goes..I notice my kids and fiance standing toward the back of the group. He's standing right by then to read the numbers he's holding. This is the last bike...I here Alex, Alex...I think cool a kid named Alex, sometimes Lex goes by that, I look up and see my fiance right by the stage and I here all the kids shouting Yeah ALEXA...what the heck???Two brand new 18 speed mountain bikes in one month!!!!

Congratulations! You've got a lucky daughter indeed. Me, I never win in raffles, although sometimes I am to jaded to even fill out the raffle stubs. I tell myself I never have that luck and I throw them away. But it must be so nice to win the prize, indeed.

Yes it is, I have lived vicariously through her experience, since luck is not my thing.
