Why do some women refuse to color their hair?

valeria1 yes I have a lot of clues, I am 81and my hair is white so why should I dye it some ugly unnatural color. I am elderly and I like my white hair,it is almost silver and it suits my skin tones and my deep blue eyes. Why does everyone have to do a certain thing. Just because some women dye their hair so much it looks like straw is no reason for me to do so. my hair is in good condition and is soft and shiny. Let others follow the fashion trends, thats okay for them. I would rather not have platinum blond hair that looks like straw myself. lol lol lol.

For me, it's not much of a choice. I started going gray while I was still in high school. That was pretty horrifying, so I went to an excellent salon to have my hair colored. We discovered in just a few minutes that I was highly allergic to hair coloring! Every ten years or so, I try what claims to be new, improved, gentle, etc. I'm still allercgic to something in that stuff. I'm lucky that my gray has grown in so well that people often ask where I get it colored that way! I have nothing against dying one's hair. I wonder, though, if I could, would I? The gray is realy nice, with a bit of the old darl brown at the neckline and in one or two other spots, so it looks like it was done very purposefully. I'm blessed that way.

Valeria I can tell for myself why I do not prefer coloring. Firstly, My hair hasn't started to grey yet, good for me! lol.. Coloring my hair gives a dry, dusty look which I do not like and I love going against the tide all the time. And lastly, I do not like ppl concentrating on my hair instead on my looks. lol.. Hope you got my point.

I don't know but maybe they don't hold with the vanity in dyeing their hair. all the best urban

I could turn around and say why would someone keep dying their hair when it's full of nasty chemicals that can hurt you? Coloring (or not) your hair is a personal choice, no different than choosing long hair over short, getting a perm or straightening it. Why are you being so critical over something that is a personal choice?

Simply because it IS natural and they are comfortable with it I guess. I can never understand why people pull their eyebrows out and then draw them on & I wouldnt want to have long nails or have my nose,eyebrows & other parts pierced but, its all a matter of personal preference. A full head of grey hair probably looks more attractive than black or brown with grey roots coming through - keeping up with the roots can be time consuming and expensive. Personally, I do dye mine - usually violet or cerise. I figure that everyone knows its dyed so why not go for something obvious?

There are many reasons why some women do not color their hair.Some just like to age gracefully and they just let the grey hair be as it is and it looks very dignified too.For some women they are allergic to hair color so they cannot use anything, they have severe reactions, they have no choice but to let it be as it is. Some are so lazy they feel they just cannot take the trouble to color it,doing it by yourself is a big hassle, going to parlours or salons is pretty expensive.Some women are so old they have lots of wrinkles and skin sagging these women will color their hair black or some funny color it really does not make them look young but instead they look weird.

My mother used to tell me that hair dying is a waste of time and money. But now that she is already old and most of her hair is white, she adopted hair coloring to make her look young.

There are some people who don't mind ageing hence don't color. Also I know many people not coloring their hair for the fear that they would end up losing hair. And some people look really good with grey hair.

when i was in college i really love to color my hair, but i noticed that my hair becomes brittle & its hard to touch lol now i dont want to color my hair anymore, & i go to the salon once in a while to have relax/hot oil or semi-rebond so that my hair will become good in shape hehehe..

I am not a woman but what I can say Val is that they just want to go natural, I myself like some white hair but the grey ones are not that attractive for me as a man and today the fashion and all the people tendencies are to look fake.
