Computers are becoming more and more a neccessity these days. Research, school, work, leisure, communication. You need it for just about everything. It is very common for people to have multiple tvs in their homes, but more and more people are beginning to have multiple computers. I have a desktop and my parents just got a laptop. How many computers do you have in your home? If you have more than one, why? In my case it's about privacy.

We do have more than one computer at home. My parents have a laptop and desktop whereas I have a laptop. For us, it's not so much about privacy as it is about convenience. It's far easier when we don't have to share computers. It certainly is very common to see a network of computers at home nowadays, though.

Yeah, very common. I wonder what's going to be the next big thing.

My husband and I both have our own desktop and laptop. Actually he bought me a new laptop for Christmas this year because and I handed down to him the laptop he bought me 4 years ago. I use the new laptop more than I used the older one because it was too slow for me, I use photoshop and need the processing power. I prefer the desktop because everything is more spread out, the bigger keyboard and screen.

Yeah. I think that that's the most common reason for people to have more than one computer is the conflict, especially nowadays since teenagers practically live on the internet with the myspace and what not.

In my house we have three. My desktop, which doesn't have internet but is the best on in the house. This computer, which absolutely sucks and I only use because it has internet. And the crappy windows ME computer which I have claimed and I use for typing when I don't want to use my computer, am out, in bed, etc

I have a few computers and they are used for the same purposes as stated. More than one computer usually ends up with one person hogging up the PC while everyone else waits for the computer to become available. When the lifecycle of the PCs are reached then I'll have to upgrade since I want to keep receiving great support.

Only one. I think privacy can be protected with seperate accounts and folder locks

I agree with that, but it's more convenient I guess to not have to have seperate accounts and passwords to remember and stuff. In my case, the privacy issue is that my computer is in my room and so others would have to go in my room to use it.
