I think , it is more comfortable to sit on the middle, cause it's go straight to the screen. but if saying upper or lower. I choose upper cause it's more easy to see straight down than to see straight up. it will not make my neck tired, if sit on upper place.

On the rare occassion that we go to the movies, I prefer to sit all the way in the back but my girls like to sit closer!
I prefer the back so I don't get a crick in my neck. LOL

Most of the time, I stay downstairs because the ticket is cheaper; besides, it's still the same movie I would have seen had I been upstairs. I only buy a balcony ticket if I feel like it and I rarely do that.

Heya, I usually go into the balcony(upper) but since most people loves the balcony and its always full and the movie hasnt even started yet I go into the upper lower.LOL! I mean the upper part of the orchestra(lower seats). I usually sit at the top row of the orchestra or somewhere near the middle. I actually prefer to sit in the middle rows because that gives a nice view and a nice distance to the screen. Its not so far that I need to squint(near-sighted) and its not so close that my heads spins.

In the larger screens at the local Cineworld, just under halfway up and in the middle of the row. We usually go to the early evening screenings, so have the room pretty much to ourselves. Once I saw Starship Troopers from the front row of one of the smaller screens. I still have nightmares over the size of Casper Van Dein's jaw.....

I think sitting in the lower chambers make for god viewing for me-I tilt my face a little and watch in absolute comfort!

I prefer on the middle due of convenient and comfortable for good viewing unless moviehouses are not yet crowded. However incase inside is populated better to bring a binocular if you got far away.
