There are various religions that exist in world we live in. Which is the true religion don't u ask yourself this question or all the religions are pointing towards the one religion (are the teachings of all the religions same then why we have different names for them).

I don't think that any religion is 'the true religion'. To me, none of them are rational. For example, do you REALLY think that there is a being up there called God, who has this little black book, in which he takes note of all the good things and all the bad things we have done. Then, if the good things outweigh the bad things, we have been good little sheep and will get to go to heaven. WHAT!
Religion is the single greatest evil on this planet. It has caused more pain and suffering than any war could hope to achieve. Yet, 'the fear of God' keeps people coming back for more.
The only benefactors of religion are the people who run each individual scam.

If anyone actually knew who created us, or how we got here, what would be the need for different religions. Also, who said we were created ?

Religions are man made concepts, as is the concept of God - this doesn't imply that I am an atheist, it's just that most religions are a mixture of certain rules and regulations about how to lead life and rituals where the clergy (the religious leaders) backed by a ruler in the past (kings, princes, etc) were the ultimate authority that decided the fate of other humans.
There is no specific religion that can be considered as the best religion, because none the religions actually convey an impression of equality among all beings- the king, the priest, noblemen noblewomen have a slightly higher edge with respect to a common man. However the aims of most religions (if correctly interpreted) are to show a way of peaceful life among their adherents. With the advent of religions of the book (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) came the concepts of conversions (forced or otherwise). Many earlier religions such as Hinduism and its many offshoots (Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, etc) were a way of life rather than religion per se. They later evolved into rigid rules and regulations.
I personally feel that there is a creator and that we have the brains and the wherewithal to understand what is good for us and what is bad for us. Religion (and God) is a good crutch in times of crisis for humans.

I said that I believe that there is a creator, an atheist doesn't share this belief. When I say that GOD is a concept created by humans, I mean exactly that - humans (and most religions) think that God has created us in his own images and then imagine that he has human nature - that he gets angry, that he rewards and punishes.
My concept of God is far beyond likening him to humans, he is a lot different from the image any human or religion can imagine for him. Also note, I have used the male gender for God, this is just following convention, as I said that GOD is a lot different from what we conceive him.
In times of crisis most humans do remember God and religion and that helps them through the crisis. So I don't se where I am wrong in saying that religion and God are a crutch? And where have I implied at all that I am an atheist? On the contrary I have refuted that right in the first para of my previous response.
I do like a healthy debate on metaphysics and theology, so I welcome your comments and reply to my this response.
Happy mylotting!

what r u , if not an atheist if u say God is just a concept created by humans. That is what religion is all about certain rules and regulations regarding how to lead a life according to your creator/God.And religions didn't only existed in the past they even exist today and i thing people are too clever to follow any religion blind folded , but there exist certain people in every society who do follow there religion without reason. Why can't there be one specific religion , if there is a God then God must have chosen one way of life for all his creation (equality). And yes, there exists a religion in which all men are equal whether the king, the priest, etc. with respect to common men and having more power in what ever terms means having more accountability towards the creator/God.Yes , I agree with u on this aim of all religions (if correctly interpreted) is to show the way towards a peaceful and successful to its followers and I also believe this is the problem with world right now , we are not interpreting our religion correctly because if we do we may find that all the religions are pointing towards the one true religion (chosen by God).A religion must have certain rigid rules and regulations because I believe way of life is chosen (religion) by God So its him who decides whats best for us (creation cannot go above the creator),but we have to take good care while knowing the rules and regulations of a religion whether they are really from the creator or first they came from the creator then later people changed them according to their will or whether they are man made. Can any creation / invention write down its do's and donot's , likewise how can we decide what is good for us or bad.

My religion as I know it is the true one, I will not try to convert anybody, but please dont try to do the same to me-for that matter, consider your religion the most true one, while giving me my space to regard mine in the same vein. i hate people who over glorify their religion at the expense of others-lets share and celebrate our diverse religions-there would be peace on planet earth if who took that line.

I'm not a religious person...and quite frankly I think religion is more trouble than its worth BUT that being said, I also believe that ALL religions are "true" to each individual as they follow them....Just because a religion doesnt sit well with me doesnt make it any less true for those that do benefit from it/them ya know....
Why the different names...same reason the teachings are all slightly different..IMO it has to do with culture, country etc etc....

First I would like to clarify the religion. I do not believe that religion is a sect or group of people or a name of a group who believes in something or just on anything. I believe that in the Bible religion is a virtue, a way of life that we/each individual must walk-on thru. Just like what is written in
James 1:27
"Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." NKJV
It is a way of life or a virtue: being Holy and Charitable for the needy.
I had never encounter a verse that Christ or even the Apostles taught that religion is a sect or group of people, just like how it was interpret by most people, by rather it was called a Church.
--Pardon for my English Grammar, it's not my language.
--I'm not pastor or religious leader, just a bible believer.
Thanks! Hope I have answered your question right.

I don't believe in a religion, it doesn't mean that I don't believe in God. For me religion is just a tool for anyone to get a contact with a higher being. Every religion has the same purpose, with different way to achieve it, so if you know teh purpose of having a religion, you can just take your own way to reach it, you don't have to have any religion.
Every religion believes that their religion is the best. That's how they learned it, and that's what they believe. They have different teaching of course, different rule and different term for (maybe) the same thing. The thing is, some fanatics made some religions look bad in the other's religion's view. They forced people to believe what they believe, to receive what they give. And that's not right.
There was a moment when I become an anti-religion, it is when I found that religions only made people live in different blocks. Religions separate people, one and another , made people hate each other. If you just familiar with the song by John Lennon, "imagine" you'll see why I have this kind of thoughts

I do not believe in the essence of "religion" but more on faith itself. It's what you believe in and if that helps you and has given you proof over your belief. I don't like the wars between religions and religious groups and the killings in the name of God. There is a God and each one of us sees this concept differently...

even i don't like wars over religion or between religious groups but wars happen really because different people believe more in their religion or faith (faith is a part of religion)then they do in other religions. every religion has a root or scriptures which are used as a source for that particular faith , so , i believe instead of fighting going to the source will definitely solve this question. And if there is a god and each one of us sees this concept differently that cannot be right because there can be only one creator and the creator decides whats best for his creation. creator would never want his people to fight on his name unless it is from him. how can a creation(human beings) decide whats best for it, it has always been the role of the inventor/creator /God to decide to decide role of the invention / creation / everything we and everything we don't see.
