I have not been blessed with children, so maybe I just don't understand. What is so interesting about Miley Cyrus??? In one way I'm thrilled she's doin so good at such a young age. On the other side, I'm sooooo tired of seeing her grinnin & tellin how wonderful her life is. Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate her music. I just don't understand the obsession that's goin on with her. Are you or one of your kids a Miley fanatic? and can you give me some insight???

Hi my friend, I guess I am too old too because I am not a fan of hers or a fan of her father either.

Oh I loved her Dad when "Achy Breaky Heart " came out. But I did not have the obsession that's goin on for her. I have listened to a little bit of her music. Some is truly pretty (especially the one she wrote about her Grandad) but some just doesn't make sense. My neice is the right age for all this. She watches the Hannah Montana show but is not totoally ga-ga over her. Oops, I'm havin a NY style pretzel attack. will be back shortly

Yes, you are lucky. I always felt cheated that I never had any children but, I'm just glad I don't have a Miley nut in my home right now. She's cute, she's perky but her silly lil grin irritates me to no end.

Hi LadyMarissa
My kids are grown but my grandson when he is here for a visit watches Disney Channel a lot and so I in turn have seen many shows on there. As for the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus thing? I have no idea. Even her TV show I find her acting is not that good, she seems more like she is reading when she talks. When she is on stage, from what I have seen from TV, her smile comes across as forced or fake? I do love the song she wrote about her grandfather and I also love the song she and her dad sing together. I love my grandson but there is no way I would even pay that kind of money for him to go see her that some people are paying. Let's just hope that her parents will be there to catch her when she crashes from her over load.

I think it is her silly lil grin that irritates me so much. Her dad said she's smiled like that since she was a baby. Her nickname was Smiley then shortened to Miley. I'm sure Billy Ray will be there to pick up the pieces when she gets too old to be cutesy. She's made a small fortune & she's waitin to see what kinda car her Daddy is gonna buy her.

I don't know anything about Miley personally and I'm not really concerned about her in general However, I do listen to her music, as much as it pains me to type this. I just like her songs because there are days when I don't want to think. And her music helps me with that, lol. Plus her songs are fun to play on the guitar. So I focus more on her music not her.

I agree with you, I really like her music because it's upbeat and happy.. and a major change from most of the music I listen to. That is cool that you can play her songs on the guitar! I'd love to be able to, but I never was able to learn guitar that good. :/
I also don't know a whole lot about her, but I really do think a lot of the stuff that happens to her personally is blown out of proportion because the media can't keep their stinkin noses out of people's business. Also, I've seen these "shocking" pictures, and she is wearing twice as much clothing as Britney Spears was at about the same age! So I really don't understand.. I have yet to see any pictures of her that are any worse than 90% of the pictures teenage girls post on their myspace!

Miley also has a tv show on the Disney Channel called "Hannah Montana"
It is a show about a brother and a sister ( Miley) being raised by their father, they lost their mother.
Her real father, Billy Ray Cyrus also plays her father on the show.
She is Miley, a regular girl who goes to regular school, and only her best friend and family know that she is really the famous pop star Hannah Montana.
It is a very good show that has a great cast of characters and entertaining episodes. They always make me laugh.
So, when Miley Cyrus does a show, all the girls ( and alot of the boys) can't wait to get to see her, as they aslo see her as Hannah.
I hope this helped.

My daughters are huge fans, they are only 5 and 6. I think they like that she sings and dances, its almost every girls dream to sing and dance on stage.

People feel that we have to become broadminded. But what is it leading us to? Kids innocence being destroyed even before they grow up. Knowing the other side of Miley Cyrus, Disney should have taken her off the screen, but then I don't know the legal implications. After reading your opening for this discussion my 24-yearl son updated me on her and explained. I really don't know how such things can be controled in todays world.

Well, you know.. for a long time I never got into Miley and Hannah Montana.. a while back I think I watched an episode but never got into it. But just about a week ago I was tuned into Disney and ended up watching Hannah Montana and several other shows and now I've been catching it whenever it's on. I don't have kids, but I am 25, so I could easily have a pre-teen.. But I've just always been into the younger shows and music.
I don't know why others like her, I just know that she is an inspiration to me--since I've always had dreams of being a singer. And I think she is very talented, and yes, there seems to be a lot of "controversy" lately, but that comes with fame--the media builds you up and then wants to tear you down. I think she is probably a pretty normal teenage girl, who happens to have a famous dad, and I think that is a big reason she has the opportunities she has, not to say the only reason, but she certainly had advantages over other talented people who don't know anyone in music and entertainment.
As for the "craze", it's nothing really new.. when I was a teenager it was Hanson, the boybands, Britney Spears and The Spice Girls. And while I was into all of those, I do think that Miley is a much better influence, putting aside some of the tabloid drama--that is really not even as bad as the stuff Britney did when she was at her most popular. I think it's good that she stays positive for the most part, these days it's really hard to be that way--I know it is for me, so it's kinda nice to just listen to carefree happy music sometimes.
Anyway, I hope my thoughts gave you any insight on this a little bit. I can't really speak for everyone, especially since I'm not the typical Miley fan, but I know I first heard her singing when she sang a song with her dad, and I really liked her voice, so I think that's what first caught my attention.

I don't get it anymore than I did the boy bands. My granddaughter is into the Miley thing, but I doubt it will last. Her mother did get over the New Kids on the Block.

i too am wondering the same thing. probably because i'm asian that is why i do not understand this western craze. she's a singer right from disney channel? i think she's being mold to be the next hilary duff. if i'll be asked to compare the two, i think i'll opt for duff. i've seen i a few videos from both, and i like hilary more.
with regard singing, i really dont know if they truly sing (or you know, just lip syncing).

I really don't like her. I think teens love her because of her fashion sense (?). I don't really watch the whole Hannah Montana thing and I believe there are better singers than her. Maybe Disney has marketed her very well. Who knows.

I don't really get it either. But then again, if someone starts a new hot trend, it's likely that everyone will follow, especially if they want to be recognized by their peers. Beyond peer pressure though, the media has also generated lots of hype about the matter. (Who said Disney didn't know how to make money? Hah!) I've always found her to be boring, but this isn't really any different than the way people fawn over celebrities, which I find excruciatingly banal as well. Just so happens that she's younger and appeals to a younger audience.

Well, I kinda know where your coming from. I dont have any kids yet nor in the furter do I want any. Its different no n days with the music. But, just think about it. When you were a pre teen and teenager there was a music icon that you loved or everyone was raving about and your parents were in the same position as you are now. What in the world is so interesting about the beatles or elvis or whatever you was into. Its just a cycle I dont think anyone will understand.
