I usually let my daughter watch cartoons after lunch and most are very educational. But lately when I turn them on at night its scary. These cartoons are evil. Characters go around killing each other. I would not even whatch this stuff at my age. I have always thought cartoons are suppose to be mostly for children. Has anybody else noticed this. Would you let your children watch this crap?

I sure have seen those cartoons, not entertaing for little girls to say the least. I have found that the best chldrens shows are the ones on PBS and the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon is another good one.
We call those mean cartoon 'boy cartoons' , thinking that they might like them much more than we do.
When my son was younger he was more interested in the good guy cartoons, in addition to the regular cartoons ( Tom and Jerry and the like )
I wouldn't let my children watch cartoons with killing , they shouldn't even be aired at times when children can watch.

All we really watch in our house is the disney channel... With my son being only 4 Months old he doesn't really understand the killing and stuff that my husband watches in the movies while the baby is awake, but I think once he is older we will have to limit what we watch. Granted I did watch some violent stuff when I was younger and I seem ok, so I think that I might let him watch some programming, but I don't want it toooooooo violent :) Maybe I'm just weird and young enough that I don't know any better... LOL

I have noticed and think it stinks! Cartoons are just not cartoons anymore - like you said killing each other and aliens and scary things and bad people doing whatever even tho the good guy wins at the end.
My grand daughters don't watch much at my house anyway as I keep them pretty busy with crafts and other things, but they love Blue's Clue's and Max and Ruby - and those are pretty much the only ones they watch. Sometimes, Franklin but other than that, that's it. I have recorded Blue's Clue's for tha tpast years, and have about 6 tapes of just Blue's Clue's and Max and ruby so I have sent them all home with them too. But that's the only ones viewed at my house! and the only ones my kids ask to watch! I notice a cartoon called 2 Stupid Dogs - good grief - the name alone is disgusting and says nothing about "children".

Well they watch tom and jerry thats hardly all flowers and fluffy hugs now, to be honest like everything moderation is the key surely? My girls arent violent animals set to kill the nearest person, because they get proper realistic everyday images from me and family and friends around them as to what is actually acceptable and even at 2 and 4 they know the difference between real life and pretend, IMO you cant hide them from everything personally I think its better (within reason) to let them experience as much as possible along with a lot of education and good role models to try and make sure they know what is right and wrong
