Wrong Number!!

A few minutes ago my phone dinged, informing me that I'd just received a new text message. "Hey sexy," it said. Local number. WHAT? Either it was a wrong number, or my husband had gotten into Canada two weeks ahead of schedule, and bought a cellphone before coming to meet me.
I have my computer infront of me. I checked my husband's MyLot page, and saw that he'd been on line in AZ, all day. I guess he can't be in two places at once. Seems some stranger in Guelph decided to send me spicy text messages today. No one I know.
I texted back "I'm Married" and he responded with "Wrong number" and that was it.
Has this ever happened to you?

Not that type. I did get this foreign sounding lady asking for her friend, some kid thinking I was their mom, or someone who thought that I was someone else. I seem to get the boring wrong numbers. I do not use text on my cell phone, the cost, and I like to have a big keyboard when I type, not the keys on the cell phone.

Yeah, I like my big keyboard better. Texting? I don't do it often, but I've gotten good at pressing the keys, just from loading the names into my phone, when I save numbers.

I only had texting on one of my phones and never figured out how to use it (or why to use it). You know my feelings about telephones in general and cellphones in particular. When I invent my time machine, the first thing I will do is kill Alexander Graham Bell.

Walker!
Without the aid of telephones, our marriae would never have gotten off of the ground. I don't have the internet at home anymore. If you went back in time and killed Bell, you'd never get to hear me tell you that I Love You, during those long periods of time when we have to be apart due to the current job situation.

We'd see. I've been to Guelph before on pleasure. We probably would have met.

I don't think he can be in two places at once. In answer to your question have received texts that weren't for me. They were clean texts, but now only turn on my telphone to make a call and turn it right back off. I ignore texts.

I turn my phone on because I never know when I'm going to get a REAL call. I thought about "not replying" but then the person might keep texting me to ask why I wasn't answering, not realizing it's a wrong number.

Yes, I hate that so much. How difficult is it to text? If my mom can do it and yes she textes all the time than ANYONE can do it and do it correctly! It really upsets me when I get those kinds of messages.

Well, I heard about that and I have this too, sometimes who ring to me and I answer and he start to talk (Hi how are you, where have you been) seconds of talking to realized that he or she have dialed a wrong number.
I think people should be make sure from the numbers that they dialed or just to save their friend's number in their phones so it will not happen again.
Thanks and have a nice day.

I totally agree with you. What had me in this case was the intimate nature of the message. I joke with my friends all the time, but it has to be people I know. I am extremely careful in dialing numbers.

People need to think clearly before they text questionable messages to wrong numbers.

How funny. The other morning when I turned my cell phone on it let me know there was a text message and I figured it was my daughter or sister in law but it was neither. The message come in at 4something AM and said something to the effect of "ok babe love ya". It was from a completely different area code and I didn't call back.

LOL I thought of leaving it alone, but then I thought "maybe this guy is with someone and SHE checks his messages." Let 'er know he was hitting on a married woman. ROFLMAO That'll teach people not to text wrong numbers. LOL It was local, so I knew it wasn't going to be long distance.

hi there..I did get some wrong numbers but none of them ever said "sexy" to me ..Most of them would be looking for somebody else or a store or something else..
I sure hope one day somebody will make a wrong call and calls me "hey beautiful"...

I flipped a mental coin, but I thought if I dind't let the guy know he was texting in the wrong direcion my phone would be dinging all day. Nothing else, just "I'm married" and that's it. If it had come from the Sedona AZ area code, I would have kept the discussion going. tehehe

This just happened to me this past week as I was at my bowling league on thursday night. I received a picture message on my cell phone of what appears to be a picture of a car door handle. I am scratching my head of who sent this picture. I did not recognize the phone number. It was a local number as well. I sent a text message back to this person asking "Who is this?". They responded, "Sorry, I sent to the wrong number."

About a month or two ago I got a phone call with a recorded voice telling me I had a text message and to press 1 to listen to it. Well, I couldn't figure out who it would be. We didn't have cell phones at the time. It was during the day and I was home alone, babysitting a 6 year old girl. Imagine how I shivered when the recorded voice said, "I can see what you are doing." I got so scared I called the police (after checking with the phone company but they were no help). The police came to the door and recorded my report. The cop dialled the number and got an answer (I had dialled the number, heard sounds in the background and then a disconnection). The cop told the person who answered the phone that it was the police calling. They hung up. He called again and they had turned off the phone.
Everyone I told agreed with me that it was scary (except my husband of course - he said I overreacted). My 15 year old daughter also thought it was scary until she looked the number up. It was the new cell number of a friend of her's. She called her and asked her if she had called me today. Turns out she LOANED her phone to a friend for the afternoon who in turn dialled a wrong number. When I got my kids cell phones I told them in no uncertain terms do they LOAN their phone to someone. They can make a call from the phone while you are with them but you can't loan it out.
It all made sense then... a kid in class, texting another kid in class, telling them they can see what they are doing. Then my daughter wasn't too pleased with me. But imagine at the time getting a message like that. Heck, if I were alone and it was night time I would be scared out of my freakin' mind.
Now you know why I am in agreement that kids should not be allowed to bring cell phones to class.

I don't have texting on my phone. But one time I had a guy call me and I think it was a solicitor. He seemed to like the sound of my voice and we started talking on the phone like he was interested. It was really strange and totally out of character for me since I am usually very shy and especially around guys. The other strange thing was that he was from the same city as me.......they are usually from across the country somewhere. Then I told him that I was working at the drive-in and he could come there and check me out since he was so interested in what I looked like, but when he found out that I wasn't a model size, he lost interest and wanted to know why I didn't just lose weight. I am not the kind to be rude to people, so I wasn't but that was the end of that conversation and I wondered for a long time if he ever did show up at the drive-in to check me out anyway!!

LOL I bet you had a good laugh afterwards and so did the person on the other end!! That is pretty funny though and I'm sure it's a common thing to happen. I did something similar to my niece's old phone number and was giving her an update on my mom and it was a wrong number because she had moved, which I already knew, and had gotten a new phone number. Like, gee thanks for telling me! lol

hi danishcanadian not quite like that but about a month ago I got one of these breather calls only I could hear a child giggling
real close to the phone, so I finally said, okay kids funs'
over better stop before your mom knows what you are doing, and I heard a female voice talking to the kids, she said oh myg you at that a gain, then she picked up the phone and apologized to me, she told me that they had seen a movie about some teen age boys who were playing tricks on people on the phone and pretending to be a heavy breather.I told her to forget as I hear the kids giggling and wasnot worried about a masher. we both laughed and that was that.
