Will you name your baby after a brand name?

Say, if both your partner and you love to drink Cola very much, will you name baby "Cola"? I am giving my first baby a temporary nickname as Cola. Some my friends think it is hilarious and some of them can hardly accept it. How about you? Will you name your baby after a brand name? If yes, what is the name you would choose and why? If no, can you elaborate your reason?

I don't think i will ever do that... since the my child will carry that name until she becomes old... and that might result to a lot of teasing from other kids in the neighborhood... or even in school... i prefer to give my baby a name that is original yet... good enough for her to carry around to the rest of her life...

Hmm, how unique is unique? What if other people follow the name you give to your child next time? Does it mean that the name no longer unique?

My first grand daughter was born this week and her mother couldn't settle on a name so for the last week before she was born I would refer to her as baby hey you, after she was born for thirty six hours everyone kept calling her baby no name trying to force my daughter to give her a name. It worked she finally named her Audrina Rose and that's what every one calls her now. In my family we just don't use nicknames much other then shortening names like Jessica to Jessi or Katherine to Katie. My youngest couldn't say her name Michelle right when she was younger she said it Bachelle and it became her dads pet name for her, then someone else decided to call her that and she said it so ugly my daughter gets very upset when anyone including her father uses it now. She just uses Chelle now. Odd family nicknames tend to create embarrassment for children.

Name is a very precious possession of a person. Your name says a lot something about you. I will never give my future children a name from a brand or anything commercially related. I might consider religious names and/or from heros or people who has done great things to the world. Their name will tell the world who they are so why name them after those things. I wouldn't mind if you name yours after brands. Take care =)

Yeap, agree with you that name is precious possession of a person. I prefer to name my baby according to his own personality/character/or anything that suits him when he is born. However, I would not go after the religious name or heros or people that has done great things though. ;p I do not want to tell my child that I give you this name and wish that you can be like somebody, bla bla bla. I do not want him to be a shadow of someone.

I would never name my baby by any brand name. I find it very stupid to keep your baby name on a brand. I think this would bring him a lot of fun element among friends and relatives. He will be a point of fun among people. So I think you should drop this idea.

But there are a lot of brands that are name after person name, example: Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, McDonald, etc. I hope you do not mean that it is stupid to have Louis as a name. ;p

wow why will you name your me after a brand name? for me it's best to look for a unique name for your baby as much as possible... try combining your names for example and a good name will come out eventually.

Hmm...when I first thought of Cola, I do not mean to take it after the brand. It is just some sweet memory between my husband and I during our courtship that we jokingly said that next time, when we have a baby, let's name the baby Cola. hehe...just some memories back in old time. But, Cola wont be my baby's name. We will give him a name when he comes to this world. :) By the way, one of my friend got her name from the combination of her parents name too! :)

I think no...you see , after your baby grows up, he will surely ask you... who why was he named in this way..so better give him a name , that does not trouble him in future....
