Have you noticed that you get paid more when you rate discussions?

I have a theory that rating discussions actually pays!
I'm not sure how much money rating a discussion pays,
but I like to imagine that I get one cent each time
I rate a discussion.
That encourages me to rate more.
I've noticed on days when I rate responses, I make lots more money.
But on days when I skip the ratings, I don't make nearly
as much.
Sometimes, I pick one discussion and rate every response given.
And even on those days, I still make more.
Even though it was only one discussion rated.
I can't say whether or not it's one cent per times I rate
a response or one cent per discussion rated total.
But it does add up.
And rating a discussion is much easier than responding
or typing for hours.
What do you think?
Have you noticed that you get paid more on days when you rate
discussions?

I definitely think that this could be true, I have heard that it does--so I have been doing it! I try to rate discussions and responses everytime I view a discussion, regardless of whether or not I actually respond. That way I figure even if I can't add to it, I am giving credit to those who have, and also it adds to my participation! So I definitely think it's a great idea to do it, to help others and to add earnings. That would be cool if it was 1 cent per discussion or per rating. I always rated most the time, but now I make it a point to.. so I'm not really sure I can see the effect since I've done it always.

Same here! I always tried to rate before.
But fell out of it for awhile.
Since coming back to Mylot lots of things
have changed. They pay much differently than
a year ago when I joined.
Everything seems up in the air now.
Even the easy stuff pays!
They used to pay just a penny or two per discussion
started. It was really bad. Now it's more.
Couldn't say how much more, cause that depends on number
of responses received. But it's better!

I rate as positive every discussion i respond to. This allows me to know exactly where i have been when i do my rounds later. However, i have never noticed any changes in my earnings as a result. I have noticed that if i vary my activity, posting to discussions, starting discussions, uploading a few pictures and rating some discussions, I find my earnings are slightly higher than if i just respond to discussions

It's a good idea to rate discussions in order to leave a trail of where you've been, lol! That's genius! I'm always forgetting which discussions I've already answered, especially the ones that are around for a long time and ones with lots of answers, where I don't want to have to trail through them all. Thanks for the tip!

Well, Beautyqueen, I never tested out that theory but I'll have to give it a try and see if I notice a difference on a normal day. The weekends can't be counted as normal because I'm on mylot more than I am during the work week. Good idea though!

I'm going to test that theory, I think there might be something very truethfull in there. Only way to find out is to do nothing on mylot for a full day and only rate discussions. I'll see to it that I will do this one day soon and see how much I will earn from that.
If not, I did a good deed upgrading tons of stars, lol! .

That is one I have never tested out. I know that myLot pays more for those people who use all aspects of the site. I have always rated, so it is hard for me to compare. I will also say that depending on revenues actual per post earnings seem to vary. I have tested other theories about earnings, but MyLot has the right to change the algorithm as they choose, and I believe that they do so. Rating helps us all, as well as tagging, uploading photos, and answering discussions and commenting to responses, as well as posting discussions. Hmmmm--I think I will try doing each and every one all day for a day and see what becomes of my earnings.

I have noticed this too & I have also noticed that the more resposes you get for a discussion, the more you earn too. I guess it's just a matter of rating more & creating discussions that people will respond to that will make you money here.

I've heard that it's one penny/cent per response
received at your own discussion. I don't know for sure though.
Never took time to count.
Maybe one of these days I'll start just one discussion and then
measure that against what I make for the day. That would tell me
for sure. No guess work involved!

There's a plus and minus sign next to every response, that's how you rate. The exclamation point is just for reporting the response if you find something wrong with it, like if it violates the rules or something. I myself didn't know this until I hit my 100th post about an hour ago and got my star. Prior to that I wasn't overly concerned with the stars because I had it pretty much figured out that you don't get one until 100 posts. But when I got one I looked into what they mean and what the ratings mean, then I discovered we can all be rating the discussions. Duh! I'm going to start doing it from now on.

I haven't noticed that! I'll have to start rating more discussions. I sometimes rate them but usually I forget about the rating systems. I will rate good responses though. Well hopefully it works! Have a great day!

My ADD bugs me sometimes - I'll focus on rating one day and the next day it never occurs to me. Other than doing responses, I find I can't stay on the rating even though I know it shows participation, etc. But, I am going to try to do better - I want to pump it out between now and the 31st.

Hey part, anyone can rate. If you look to the right of a discussion that is not your own (you can not rate yourself) you will see 3 symbols a +, a -, and a !. The + gives a positiver rating, a - gives a negative rating and the ! flags the post as inappropriate. The rating system is also what controls the number in peoples stars.

I rate discussions after learning from some myLotters that it could mean better earnings. Many myLotters believe that too. I think you can tell by the number of responses to your discussion thread.
