I moved to an old house that my daughter bought and it was full of weeds. I met a man on the bus and we talked about lawns. He offered to help me with the lawn. He and his two buddies came by Thursday and weeded, tilled the yard, racked it, added compost and seeds and now I am watering it until the seeds germinate. My question: how long does it take grass seeds to germinate? I am watering 3 times a day for 5 minutes each section of the yard. I live in Southern California where it was 102 degrees F yesterday. Any suggestions?

At a guess I'd say the grass should grow very fast with the hot weather and lots of water. I'd just keep doing what you're doing. Good Luck naty1941

I dont really know about that. You should have asked those guys who were kind enough to help you. My husband says grass seeds properly planted shouldnt take anymore than 10 or 15 days to geriminate. I'm glad you had all that help. We need to get our grass going it's patchy in parts.
