Fear of Failure: Do You Have It and How Do You Overcome It?

I was just wondering if anyone had fear of failure whenever venturing to do something. I guess I'd define "fear of failure" as someone trying in the past to do things, but those things always turning out to be failures or shortcomings. Where, every moment/aspect of life seems to have ended in failure. It's the "why-even-try" type mentality---Why try when in the past you've failed so many times before? Along with this fear of failure comes dwelling on past events that have been negative events that have not turned out in one's favor. Every recent failure seems to stem from or be a repetition of past failures. My question is do you have it and how does one overcome it? How does one move forward? How does one forget the past and move on and start a new page in life?

perhaps one way is to love failure in little things - failure that inspires us or challenges us to learn more... it seems when we keep failing in little things, we learn a lot of the little things i.e. of small achievements Perhaps if we see a huge undertaking as series of small achievements, We feel not the fear of the "big challenge" Perhaps rather, we feel the joy of many small acivements? (just my opinion) Any comments?

But when you constantly fail at certain things it weighs down on you and you ask yourself "I've failed in the past, why should I even try now?" I just believe constant failure in the past holds people down and doesn't allow them to move forward. I agree with "living and learning" as you said, "love failures in little things," but it sort of weighs you down though if it's constant, in my opinion.

i came accross a saying "attitude is everything." it took me a while to grasp it. By reading articles on it I came to find out what was wrong: - I was making a choice to feel bad about things (but I had a choice to forget about the pain and resentments) - I thought I was the only one who had undergone unfair treatment. (later I found out almost everyone feels the same way) - I was dwelling on the blame I have placed on those who had control over my life when I was younger. (I realize they were just trying to survive) :) Cheers :)
