Why must everyone say that Obama was wrong in disagreeing with the serge. Just because he did not want to do it does not mean that it did not work. Of corse it was succesful. If we put 30000 troops anywhere in the world they are going to succeed. I think that the democrats are more worried about the millions of people that are losing there houses. I think they are worried about the billions and billions of dollars we are spending over there. Just because Obama wants to start planing us leaving does not mean we are going to lose. He wants to get out because the president of Iraq wants to have more security responsibilty. They think that they can do it. If we slowly leave and let them take over then we are both winning.
McCain and his advisors think they are so whitty in coming up with these word games. To say Obama wants to win an election to lose a war is obserd. We need to get out, let Iraq take over. Everyone else thinks so except for the Republicans. As we leave slowly we can help them in their week spots until things are figured out. Seems like McCain thinks everyone has a rediculously rich wife to give them money. Well sorry to tell you but I do not. You can not hardly afford to have a place of your own anymore. Maybe he plans in giving the rich more tax brakes so that his wife can afford send him to learn something about the economy.

Obama is pretending that the surge didn't work. He seems to believe that the violence would have declined even without the surge. It's ignorance at its best and proves what McCain's been saying.
Democrats are not worried about the billions of dollars being spent. That's just what they tell you. If they cared about money, they wouldn't be sending so much to third world countries that don't appreciate us. If they didn't want to waste money, they wouldn't be trying to impeach Bush when his term is nearly over. A massive waste of money to start impeachment hearings that may not begin, and definitely couldn't end before Bush's term is over.
We do need to let Iraq take over, but that takes time. Setting a date for withdrawal without evaluating the situation is foolish and screams of ignorance. McCain knows that the situation has to be evaluated consistently before a full withdrawal plan can begin. Obama is giving a precise date because getting elected is the most important thing to him. That's why McCain has said Obama would rather win the election and lose the war.
Obama's priorities are very clear. That's why he chose not to visit wounded soldiers in Germany after the Pentagon told him that his media circus could not accompany him there. It would have been inappropriate for him to show some respect to our soldiers alone.

"Obama never once said he would leave Iraq without evaluating the situation. "
Well we all know that what he says and what he does are two entirely different things. I could list plenty of examples, but I'll stick with the Iraq issue. He claimed that any plan for withdrawal would only be made after consulting with the commanders in Iraq. What he did was decide we'd have everyone out in 16 months. He made that decision long before going to Iraq and hasn't even discussed the possibility of changing that plan since visiting Iraq.
The fact is he had no intention of giving anyone else input on that decision. Why? Because his 16 month statement was just a way to get the antiwar people voting for him and not McCain. The truth is, we have no idea what he's really going to do if he becomes president because he's already told several lies and broken promises even before being elected.

See you say that Obama thinks the serge did not work?? He said that he did not want to do the serge this does not mean that he doesn't think it worked. He said it WAS successful. That does not mean that if we did not serge we would have lost. I don't get it. We DID NOT win the war because we serged. Of corse a serge is going to work, there were 30000 troops. He just said we do not need to. Plus you are saying that we can not get out with out evaluating the situation. What do you think we have been doing. The republicans are the only ones that think we are not done. Even the president of Iraq thinks we should start looking at an exit plan. I agree gettin out to early would be terrible but he is calling for us to leave in 2 years 2 yrs that is plenty of time. McCain also tried criticising him for seeing the people he did. Obama has done nothing different than McCain except for do it well. That is the only problem.

I repeat we did not win the war yet. Everyone acts like with out this surge our troops would have come home next week defeated. No that is not it. Almost everyone of our allies says we need to start working on an exit stragity. Thsi was set for 2 years later. He also said that this date was not set in stone. You people are misconstruing the facts to make it look like the surge was McCain idea. Obama never once said he would leave Iraq without evaluating the situation.

The surge was a success. It was not meant to be a way to win the war, but a way to quash the increasing violence against our troops and among the sects. And it did just that. In fact, contrary to popular belief we are winning, and will win the war as long as we stick to the game plan.
I don't believe anyone in America could really want to lose a war, but I do believe that there are candidates out there who are willing to make it seem as if we are losing in order to win.

You are correct my friend. I think McCain and the republicans have done a good job at this since they have been in office. They make it sound like you are with them or against them. They make it sound like there is only one way to win and that is there way. If Obama does not support the surge then he is against us winning.
When wer invaded Iraq they made it seem like that was the only way. So either you support invading them or you are against America.
We will win no matter what. The question is when.

"If we put 30,000 troops anyhwere in the world they are going to succeed." If Obama had his way the 30,000 troops would not have been sent, so they could not have succeeded. So, Obama wanted us to lose over there. Isn't that what your saying?

See you can not say that Obama was wrong because we did not try his idea. He did not support the surge because he thought we could use the 12 billion dollars to help our depleting economy. We can not say who was right and who was wrong because we did not try them both. Get it?? I am not saying that the serge did not work. If youask Obama if it worked he will tell you it did work. But the way we did it was wrong.

We were already involved in the war at the time the surge was needed. If it would not have been send the US would have lost instead of making things better over there and another step closer to being able to come home. Period.

that is stricly hypothetical. You can not say Obama's plan would not have worked because we never used his plan. So to say that it ould hve failed is a lie.
