cebu or boracay, which is which????

i have seen people coming from all over the world during summer time here in the Philippines for a change to hang around it's beaches. since i work here in the airport of cebu, i am a witness to this. cebu is the jump off point of most foreigners and local tourist too. it is located near almost all points of destination for beaches. cebu alone has plenty to offer on beaches. but why are people still wanting to go to boracay? i haven't been there myself, but to what i hear, it's beautiful. but then again, i haven't been to the top of the line beaches here in cebu which i heard are beautiful too. not to mention a few, there is plantation bay and shangrila in mactan, there also bantayan island and malapascua up north and a lot more....
besides beaches, cebu have lots of interesting tourist spots too. if you're religious, we have basilica del sto. nino and our lady of simala, we shoppping centers naming a few, ayala, sm and gaisano mall which is all over cebu....
why boracay? is it the water or sand or ambience?

I think Boracay is already world renown to have the best beach in the world. The fine white sands are the ones that are attracting many to these palce as there are a few of these in the Philippines and Boracay has one of the finest ones. The Place is also developed into a very nice destination as there are beach resorts are already there ready for the picking. So for a tourist that wants to be in the Philippines Boracay is the best place to stay since all you resort needs are there already ready for the picking. Cebu has indeed many beaches too but they are not as closely located to each other. So for those that loved to beach resort hopping Boracay is a place to be.

The only reason why Cebu and Boracay are popular among tourists is because of the hype created around them. While I am not discounting the fact that what they do have to offer guests -- especially foreigners -- are a-plenty, there are actually more destinations and attractions around the country that have not been given the spotlight it deserves. True, there are a number still untapped and undeveloped, but once they are, they will eventually be better destinations than Cebu and Boracay.
That said, as a Filipino I am proud that we have Cebu and Boracay as come-ons for tourists. I just hope that all of us locals who have done some travelling, exploring and discovering the many wonders of our country, will exert the effort to promote these other destinations. It really will boost our economy, provide more jobs and put the Philippines in the tourism map, which it rightfully deserves.
