Hey Friends and Neighbors,
Here's a question I'm always curious about. Are you an Early Bird (early riser) or a Night Owl(late to bed)? I'm a night owl. I hate to get up in the morning and love to go to bed late at night. I've read that if you were born in the afternoon or evening(PM) you tend to be a night owl. If you were born in the morning(AM) you tend to be an early bird. I was born at 3:20 pm. What about you? Doesthis theory hold true for you?

Hi shamzy,
I think that new born babies all like to sleep day and night. It's later on in life that it takes effect. Check out your time of birth. Also, I think young people don't always go by their inner body clocks. Thanks for your responce.

I agree, newborns sleep all the time, just be prepared to be feeding them every 1.5-3 hours. Other than that and changing them, they do certainly sleep a lot mainly because they are still growing and getting ready to live in this fast paced world with us! :)

I was born at 9:28 PM...and I am a definite night owl! I hate mornings. Even if I go to bed at...let's say 10 PM...I CANNOT wake up at six AM. That's a full eight hours of sleep, but I can barely function. However, I can go to bed at 4 AM, wake up 10 AM and be just fine. My internal clock is just wired that way!
My kids don't care about my internal clock, though - they wake up at 7 AM!

Hi leenie,
I have always been an early bird. But there are times where I would have slept till 8AM or later. Now I wake up at 4:30-5AM because of work. But that is okay though. Overall, I like waking up before 7:30AM for the latest. Anything more than that is Late for me. But I like to go to bed late if I don't need to get up early. Anywhere from 11pm-1am. I am not sure but I know I was born on a Friday...it might have been AM. I may have to ask my parents this.

Hi Rox,
If your mom doesn't remember, check it out on your Birth Certificate.I believe the difference between Night Owl and Early Bird is the time you actually like getting up in the morning. Even Early Birds can enjoy an occasional late night. Us night owls really love to sleep in if possible. Thanks for responding.

I can definatley say I am a night owl not only because I worked 3rd shift for shy of 6 yrs but I was this way long befor that. According to my father I was born at
5pm on Thankgiving day on Nov.1973 so I think I fit into this category fairly well. I can also go to bed really late like 2am in the morning and get up by
7:30-8:00am that same morning it varies with me from day to day. I love being on mylot for hours and hours it's crazy but I do it Night owl I am and always will be.

i would like to be a early-bird but i can't. I am definitely a night owl all the time. I tell to myself that i will go to bed before 12:00 every day, but can't help lingering on net and I become energetic after 12:00. But it is not good for our health, night owl may get aged more quickly and liable to suffer certain disease such as stomach ulcer.

I tend to be an early bird...I try to get alot done early in the morning while I'm full of energy b/c by noon I'm ready for a nap and in the afternoon I'm not as peppy. Staying up all night is REALLY difficult for me and unless I'm doing something really active like painting, cleaning or something like that I will nod off. I've fallen asleep more then once on my keyboard.

I am not sure what I am as I do not like waking up early in the morning or going to bed late at night. I was born at 11:35pm so I should definitely be a night owl, but then again 25 minutes later I would have been a early bird. This might be why I am not really either in my opinion.
I tend to wake up at about 7am - 10am and then I tend to go to sleep between 10pm - 1am, so which do you think that I am?

Yeah, I tend to do more things during the middle of the day. Relax or get ready to go out on the morning and then relax on the night as well. I tend to function best in the middle of the day.

I am definitely a night owl. If it was possible I would always go to bed as the sun rises and sleep through the morning. Alas, I work during the week so it's only possible on weekends now.
But yes, the theory holds true for me. I was born around 3:27pm I believe.

Hey leenie, Opal here. I was born at 3:00pm and am definitely
a night owl. I can stay up until the the sunrise! I like
"vampire hours". I'd rather sleep during the day. I get my
best rest when it's light out. I didn't know about being
a night owl if you were born in the PM or at night. Makes
perfect sense to me. I was also a jackknife breach-I came
out a.s backwards. That explains a few other things about me!

Hey Opal,
Good to hear from you!! I can't get over all the responces to this post!! Kind of neat. Is this typical? Anyway, I'm surprised more people don't know about this theory. So this a backwards thing explains what exactly. Just curious. Haven't heard that jacknife breach phrase before. Talk to you soon Opal. By the way, what state do you live in?

Truthfully, I am adopted so I don't know what time I was born, but I am a total Night Owl. I have to fight to get to bed at night and fight to wake up in the morning. My hyperthyroidism I believe plays a part in it, but not all. This is especially hard if you have young children like me.

Truthfully, since I am adopted, no one knows what time I was born, just the day. Hopefully, one day I'll get to sleep in again! Maybe when the kids are 40 and 44??

Hi Nhey,
I can understand how you might feel that way. When you have kids it feels like you never get any sleep. You have to get up early in order to feed the kids and get them off to school and if some are too young for school that means no sleep after the others are gone to school. And of course getting to bed at an early hour is pretty much impossible. I rember when mine was little.

I would have to say that i am a little bit of both. When I have things to do I love to get up early and handle my business but i also like to go to bed extremely late at night not alot of times do i do this but sometime i do i have to admit I have I need a proper amount of sleep but sometimes I truly don't get it.

Hi butterpecan,
I think we all push ourselves beyond our limits when we want or need to do something that is out of our normal routine. But some people who were born somewhere in the middle have said they feel like both night owls and early birds. I also think that we need a proper amount of sleep and if we don't get it then we know we need to catch up on it.

I'd say I am an early bird. Even though I do not sleep well. I am up before most in the house on most days. I don't know if birth time has anything to do with it.

I tend to get up fairly early in the morning. I dont stay up past midnight. I dodnt like getting up really early nor staying up really late. I think I am a early bird
but truly I think I feel best early in the evening like about 7pm. I dont really have a problem getting up unless I havent slept well the night before. When I was younger I could not sleep in and would pop out of bed like a piece of toast popping out of the toaster.

Hmmm. I was born on Easter Sunday at dinner time - about 6 p.m. My mom's doctor hated her for that.
For most of my life, I've been an early riser. I love watching the sun come up.
I've also been one to go to bed late, though. For most of my life, I only needed about 5 hours sleep. So I would stay up until midnight or 1 a.m., then get up at 5 or 6 a.m.
Things are different now that I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I sleep when I can...whenever that is.

Thanks. I'm not sure why, but my computer - today - decided to show me some best responses given 4 weeks ago. Weird. Yours was one. Thanks so much. Fibro is difficult, yes. I've heard that for some reason, people who were type A personalities end up with it more than others. And mostly women. So...it's hard getting used to not being able to be so active.

Wow Kenzie,
I am so sorry to hear about you having fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue on top of that. It sounds to me that you were able to enjoy the best of both worlds. The fact that you don't really have a choice now, I hope your early years were full of joy and beauty. I understand that fibromyalgia is very painful. I just hope that it allows you some freedom to enjoy life. Take care and I'll talk to you soon.

Hi Leenie!
Well, i won't say that i'm an early bird as i usually wake up at about 7:30 AM. In fact, i love going to bed late at night around about 2:30 AM.
But, i don't agree with the theory because i was born at bout 10:10 AM. So if u go by the theory, i should have been an early bird, which i'm not.
I guess, i'm somewhere in between the two.

I had always been a night owl. The night has always been my friend. Not the darkness, but the peace and tranquility that is there when others were sound asleep. I was born 11pm, but I think it has nothing to do with that. Staying awake at night or all night is a choice or sometimes a duty.

Hi caly,
Good Morning(at least here). I think that to determine for sure if you are a night owl, consider your weekends(whichever days they may be) And see if you prefer staying up late and have a hard time getting up by 7:00am. I think that part of it is attitude but consider how you were when you were young. Now think about now. You are a young adult with soooo much to do and not enough time to do it all. Since you are young you can bounce back from any sleep deprivation fairly easily. I think that maybe at each stage of our lives we do a little adjusting to fit our needs at the time. But I really think we have an inner clock that will eventually help us understand where we stand on this theory.
Hope I didn't confuse you. Till nect time.
