Watching movies from the middle and worse, towards the end

My husband has a habit of scanning through the movie channels and stopping at a movie that looks pretty interesting...but that has already started. I can't tell you how many times I've watched a movie without ever seeing the beginning of it because he will also watch the same movie two or three times if he likes it! It drives me nuts but he says that, since we don't get a movie guide from our satellite company, it's not his fault that we miss the beginning so we might as well watch what's left. Does anyone else suffer from this kind of movie torture?

I avoid that movie torture! My husband would do the same thing if I let him. I usually control the remote though. I'll be flicking through and he will want me to stop on something. If it is a movie that I know I want to see but it is already started I won't watch it. It drives him crazy but I don't like to watch a movie from the middle unless I've already seen it the whole way through once.

Yes, i go through the same everyday... i have two brothers and they can never decide on what to watch so we end up scanning the channels and watching bits and pieces of all sorts of movies.... so irritating!

Oh god, how that use to annoy me when my husband would do that, but since getting digital cable and having the on screen guide, I no longer have to suffer through that torture. Since he goes through that guide and sets a reminder for all the shows and movies he wants to see. Though I think he does that now, so I won't pester him with a million questions, because he decided to watch a movie that was half way through or nearly ending....lol!

I hate to watch movies that have been on for a while. It's the same thing with tv shows. My hubby doesnt care if it's halfway over or not, he is still bound and determinde to watch it. I dont like watching things if it is more than ten minutes into a program. It's the worst when I go see my parents though they are always flipping channels like crazy. Both of them do it I dont know how they ever see a whole program!

I sent my parents a DVD for Christmas one year and my mother told me that she had never seen the beginning of that movie and that she understood it a lot better once she finally figured out what started it all.

I think that woul;d just drive me nuts. We do not have cable, but rent from Netflix and also can watch them online. Plus we go out to the movies frequently. So luckily that thas never been as issue. I know people think we are carzy because we do not have cable, but on Long Island we get plenty of stations.

I'd much rather watch a movie on DVD or go out...which we haven't in years...but it's so convenient having choices at your fingertips and Surfer Boy will usually find something he wants to watch as he surfs. Besides, the nearest movie theatre is about 2 hours away.

I prefer watching movies that am interested in to watch in theater. I don't mind watching other time pass movies on television from middle or the end. My husband too has the same habit, so there is no problem.

Back in the day, I would always come in the middle of movie. Most of my beloved films I saw from the middle the first time. It still happens once in a while but I have a guide on my cable so I can find out the title and then I go to the channel's site and find out when or if the movie will air again so I can see it from the beginning. Sometimes I find that I saw the best part of the film and if I saw it from the beginning , I would have left.Suggestion. Find out the what channel you are on and log onto their site and you can find out what you are watching and when it will re air. Good Luck.

Thank goodness if my husband turns on a movie and it has already started he makes the comment we will have to watch it some other time since it is already started. He like me doesn't like to come in when the movie has already started. And as far as not having a movie guide from the satellite they do have the channel guide where it tells you what the movies are and what time they start. So he can't claim that as a reason for not catching a movie when it first starts.

I've told him again and again that he should check out the on screen guide sometime during the day to see what's playing in the evening but he's stubborn. You are soo lucky!

LOL! Your husband sounds just like mine!!!! I've learned the art of getting the hang of it. Sometimes, I just try to catch the same movie again. Ormost of the time, my husband has watched most of the movies so he gets to tell me the stories.

I can see where this would drive you nuts it would drive me nuts as well. I am the one to watch a movie from beginning to end. I just thank god that I don't have anyone that lives with me so this can't be done to me. I have complete control over the tv. I would be going to another tv in the house if you have cable hooked up to it and watch your own movie. I hope one you at least get to see one from start to finish good luck lol. :)

My husband does this with everything! TV shows, movies, sports, etc. Commericals are a definite he changes the channel to begin surfing. I'm like hello, pick up the tv guide and find what you want to watch so I'm not watching like 3 things at the same time and missing some of everything. I feel your pain. What is it with men and the remote anyway?

I wish my husband did that!!!! i get stuck with watching rambo like twenty plus times a week!!!!! Whats worse is hes got both our sons hooked on it to!!!! They even wanted to name our little dog rambo!!!

I had rather watch a movie from the beginning, too. But sometimes I may be watching something that isn't interesting, and I will view the menu on the television to see what is coming on the satellite on different channels. If I see a movie with actors/actresses I like, I will flip over there and see what the movie is about. If it looks interesting, I will stay and watch it. Later, I will hunt the movie and try to record it or at least watch it from the very first. Most of the time, unless it's a very complex movie, you can figure out what has already happened. My husband doesn't watch that many movies, so it doesn't bother him. Most of the time, when he sees one he wants to watch, I've already seen it and just watch it with him again. That doesn't bother me since it's usually a very good movie.

I think watching the same movie so many times can drive you nuts and that too if it is incomplete. I simply don't like to watch a movie again and again. I can watch a movie only once whether in theater or at home. I rarely watch any movie again until and unless it is my favorite movie.

Oh man, that must be annoying. But I haven't been with someone like that so I really don't know. I don't think he must totally put the blame on the satellite company. Our cable provider doesn't provide a channel guide either. So what I do is I go online and go to the official websites of the channels and look for their programming schedule. That way, I'm sure not to miss any of the movies/shows I like and even plan ahead that date or time. I would like to suggest that your husband do the same. It's fun to look forward to watching a movie at home because you know the schedule. :) For me, it's really annoying to watch a movie that I wasn't able to watch from the beginning because I really listen to the dialogues and sometimes, the important things, names, or events are mentioned in the beginning. There was this one time that I was late because I came just after school. I came to the theater when the movie has already started about one third of the entire film. After the movie finished, I stayed and waited for it to start again so I can see the beginning. But watching the movie from the middle destroys the good feeling of watching a movie. I'm used to starting a movie from its first 1/4 or 1/3 in the theater because I'm usually late but just realized lately how huge its effect is on me. Even on TV series, I wouldn't want to watch them if I wasn't able to watch the first episodes.
