Hi all,i know that more than 90% of computer users use windows on their computers, and many of them didnt hear about linux operating system.
I started using linux on my pc few months ago,it is very good.
It is the most secure i have ever seen, and faster on internet than windows, and other thing i am sure about it has no trojans like microsoft, also most of viruses dont work on it as they are win32 application.
U just need to take ur time to get accustomed to the new OS.
If u r searching for security and privacy,i think linux is the best

it depends on the persons interest in an Operating system, if u want it for documents and office works, internet surfing Linux is Secure and Very good, but if u want it for gaming and more on entertaining i suggest Windows nothing compares to windows when it comes to entertainment.

Exactly - more security, equally user friendly, hard to disrupt, and best of all - FREE!! The only thing I don't like is that there are sites that won't operate on anything but Windows OS, so I am unable to take employment exams online and things like that. I worry that at some point, hackers, etc, will figure out how to disrupt Linux (I have Ubuntu), but so far, I am functioning well without any antivirus.
But again - FREE FREE FREE!!! Including OpenOffice which reads all wordprocessing programs and can convert to them as well (I can create Word docs, Excel files, PDF documents, etc, all without giving Microsoft a penny!) I am a very happy web surfer!!

I cannot definitely say linux is better than windows because you have stated it yourself only less that 10% has it other uses mac. Their birth of fire is not so conclusive, maybe if that stat is reverse meaning 90% uses linux then for sure more virus would be made for them, more application will be created that would have resulted in more compatibility issues or stability problem.

I see this conversation is all wrapped up, but I still feel compelled to add my comments.
I used to despair asking why the entire world had to run on windows?
I thought you needed a mac if you wanted to run on linux.
I had my computer wiped clean from a hacker's intrusions and instead of loading windows, I had the computer repair store load ubuntu.
The interface is clean, it's easy to use and it's safe, safe, safe and free.
I did lose some pictures off my camera and I don't know where to find them. My mistake.
Thank goodness the world doesn't have to run on windows.
I run on Hardy Heron.
