In August 2005 I bought a new notebook computer - 60 gig hard drive, 1.4 ghz chip etc. I bought the extended warranty. I used it all of the time, leave it on for months at a time. Well in May 2008, due to my stupidity and using the computer on my lap all the time, I fried the hard drive. They replaced it. A few weeks later, when I took a power hit and I had no surge protector they replaced the logic card and the wireless modem card. A few weeks later, I still could not get my printer connected and a few other things. They replaced the hard drive and a bunch of other things. Now all of this is being done at no cost to me.
But again it does not work right. I am very upset.
I take the computer in for the 4th time and the repair guy says, we aren't going to fix this again. We are going to build you a new one. I expected to see a box approximately like what I had.
Well I go to pick it up and it has a web-cam, a 2.1 ghz chip, a 120 gig hard drive and the latest and greatest operating system-- all at NO cost to me.
This is why I buy APPLE products. They stand behind their products and do back-handsprings to make their customers happy.
Have you had good customer service like this anywhere else?

I can not think of having customer service go above and beyond for me. You really struck the jackpot when you bought your Apple. Usually the customer is required an additional cost for something, for you to have received all that you did for free is truly awesome.

I had a friend who sold me on Apple when I went to the store with her, they installed memory that she purchased else where, they fixed her keyboard, they updated her OS, they did a few other things, as well as putting her iPod in a new case. She walked out with out paying a penny. She said it was all part of the service.
Now I really see what she meant. I am not random or special, they are like that with everyone.

At an Apple store. If you look on the website you can also get a refurbished one and then buy the extended warranty for it. If you work at a school or are a student you can also get a discount. If you are interested, give me a yell, I can talk you through it.

You are very lucky. That is great and I think very hard to find service like that anymore. Did you buy the notebook at a store or online and if at a store did you take it back to the store for repair each time? It does seem like the extended warranty is a real good thing. I was told that the extended warranty was almost as much as a new computer. It is nice to hear about some good service.

Yes, I bought it at the store. And I took it back to the store for repair work. It is not that far from us. But when they had to send it out for repairs, I dropped it off at the store and they sent it to my house.
The extended warranty for the new one was less then $200. I bought it when I got home off the internet

Hi Debs_place,
Our computer went wrong a few months back and my husband say it cost too much momey to get it repaired and he would get another computer, then his frien had a look at it and suggested he would aske his son because he would know more about it so Steven comes along and took it with him,it stayed with for two months then He brought it back,he had rebuilt the computer and now it has been working perfect but I won't touch it so he bought me this LapTop, great.

2 months getting a computer fixed?? EEK! I would go crazy. What did it end up setting you back?
What is even better is that for under $200 I bought the extended warranty, so I am covered for another 3 years. WHere else can you get a state of the art laptop for $200?

Excellent:)
I have to say that as a rule I hate to pay for extended warranty because it makes me feel like I have to pay for something that should work in the first place. But I'm afraid that nowadays it's important to have it because things are not made to last anymore.
I like APPLE as well. The few problems my daughter had with her laptop were solved rapidly and efficiently - also at no extra cost , although when we look at it we did pay when we paid for the extended warranty:)

I would have never thought this of Apple. This has definitely changed my mind about the company. I have had very bad experiences with HP and Gateway. I just can't believe how, even though it was your "fault" that the hard drive fried, that they replaced it! Amazing! I will be thinking Apple the next time I go shopping. Thanks for sharing.
