Do you think email will follow suite with snail mail? I've read an article before that they are predicting it will do so. We now have texting, chat, IM and even twitters(I haven't even been to that one yet) which offer a more speedy and simpler way of communication.
I recently switch to gmail for my notification so that I could receive them all and it did but lately due to numerous email I'm having a hard time managing them. I am now looking for a more effective one.
Can you share your experience to this effect and would think email will be like snail mail someday. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I only use my email when I absolutely have to. Generally I just call the person, though.

Hey bro, remember the Acer Aspire One I told you about? It manages up to 6 different mail accounts concurrently & the IMs 4 simultaneously, how about that? HahaHave been busy with those little UMPCs lately as many are very familiar with Windows but not Linux. I had to configure some stuff for some of my customers. So how's it going with you? Twitter - Heard of, never even bother to look into, hahaToo many of these kinda stuff already. In Facebook, they're now offering cash prize for people who're interested in making Facebook apps. Just saw that few days ago I think.

I hope not. I don't like to text or IM.
It takes me way too long to text on a phone. I can type fast on a keyboard.
I just like to type my message and send it and go do something else.

As a mode of communication between families and friends, I think
email would be also obsolete as snail mail. I rarely use email for
communication.
I just use email for notifications from myLot and other sites.
If other facilities can do that other than email, I think email
would be history too.
Have a nice day!

You are right there my friend, I use YM more than email for them. If myLot notification would use RSS feed I would hardly use email. Right now I have 340+ unread mails just from myLot. Email client developers should really rethink of ways to easily manage email or it will end up as snail mail did.

well yeah, i almost got 1700 unread emails on my inbox hahaha.. i have 3 emails, 1 is for office use, 1 is for mylot & 1 is for forwarded emails. i regularly use my email here in mylot coz when i opened my yahoo messenger, new messages will popped up. & im checking my emails thru my phone by using gprs connection. for me ym & texting are the reason why emails & snail mails become lesser or just being ignored nowadays hehehe..

Heya, yeah I do actually but not about me using less of my email. On the contrary I use it now more than ever because of schoolwork. Most professors would just ask us to email them our homeworks. I have to say that its very convenient and buys me some time to make it more better. What I do agree on is that email would be the next snail mail. I think it just comes with progress. People are always looking for ways to make things easier and the good old days would slowly become obsolete.
Yeah Gmail is good for getting lots of mails but like you said its managing them thats difficult. Honestly, I love to get mails but not in an overwhelming rate/amount(like myLot notifications plus others;especially if I wasnt able to check my mail in a day. Whew!)
Uhm..what exactly is 'twitters'? Havent really heard of it. As for texting, chats, and IM's I feel that they're just good for small talks and greetings. Would be hard to make an in depth conversation with someone with just those kinds of mediums. But I have to say that our place is not the 'Texting Capital of the World for nothing'.LOL!

gmail,yahoo,hotmail,163,sina,QQ……
it's quite a hard work to remember the passwords and the accuont names, but i am getting used to it.
I once use thunderbird,it is very simple and easy to use,but now,i just use gmail as my main email address, just one reason,it's big~~~
as to numerous email ,i am receiving almost 20 emails everyday, the searchbox helps a lot.
