do you alphabetize your CD collection?

My husband has over 500 CD's in his music collection and he was getting tired of having to search through them all to find what he was looking for. So a few weeks ago he went through and alphabetized them on the CD rack and he's much happier. Now he can easily walk up and grab what he's looking for without wasting time. Do you do this with your music collection? If not, how do you keep them organized?

I do. It's easier to keep track of what you own. I do the same with my movie collection, which is huge by the way. I don't have that many CDs though. I collected some before I learned how to just burn songs. I have a really lame collection of about under 40 CDs. However, my Ipod speaks volumes, lol.

We do the same with our movie collection also, which is nearly 600 movies. Definitely makes things easier!

Yeah, if you have more than 500 CDs around, it makes sense to have them alphabetized. I don't think I have more than a few dozen, but I like to keep them alphabetized for the exact same reason you listed above: so I don't have to spend a lot of time finding them. I do the same with my DVD collection. When working at retail a few years back, everything used to be listed under genre. Then they decided that it would be a better idea to just alphabetize everything instead. Saves everyone the extra hassle. So the moral of the story: if anybody thinks you're crazy by organizing anything in alphabetical order, they're just lazy. ;)

Haha, thanks! I agree. I worked retail and they had them organized by genre...then alphabetically, but I think taking genre out would've done justice to everyone involved lol. I'm a huge neat freak and so it's just part of my nature to have thins easily accessible and quick to find. glad i'm not alone!

Yes, I have always had mine alphabetized. Lol! Even on my computer, where I listen to most of my music, I list all the songs alphabetically. But I list them by titles, not artists. I generally think of a song title that I want to listen to, although I sometimes forget who sings it. So that's why I listed them by titles.

That's awesome! That's why I love iTunes...I can list them alphabetically by artist or song title, so no matter what I'm thinking of, it's easy to find. :)
