How do I install fresh XP on my XP Windows, without affecting all other installed programs and software? How do I transfer applications from a drive to another in the same PC without installing from the CD?

To install a fresh copy, without removing applications is a risky job man. If you remove the applications, you also remove any viruses or spyware in the software. Although it can be done this way. Half way through the installation, it will ask you to format drive, just do not format and continue to just to get a new copy of Windows Xp. That way your files and all will be stored on the same partition of the HD. And they will be safe. To transfer applications from one folder to another one, just copy the folder of the application from Program files in the windows partition and paste it to other part of the HDD. You can use that application alrtie, but there are some applications which will not work this way.. bourne

One cannot simply copy the folders to the new OS because a lot of applications has registry entries that cannot be simply copied.
