i am doing my engineering and i have to write 4 exams every year ........
and we have nearly 6 months of college....3 months of exams and 3 months of holidays...
now almost half of our time is wasted in the exams and we are left with very little time for doing extra circular activities and almost none for our personal activities...
in this state how can we prioritize things in this critical situations
so are exams necessary in colleges

thats a very bad exam schedule i should say. i wonder what kind of college keeps so many exams. those many are bad but exams are necessary at reasonable time intervals. they are there to check whether you are professional about your courses or not. I mean whether you are serious about them are not. ask your management if possible to reduce the number of exams.

that is my opinion also but u can't ask an university to change it rules as there are more than about 400 engg. colleges under it and ours is one of them

Exams are a way of accessing your skills and providing with the idea of coping with the real pressure to which you will be face to face when you come out of the college and start working. The extra curricular activiies are also necessary but that can be done and have to be done within the time frame you are given. It identifies your time management skills which is the most sought after quality in the work culture.
