before when i was just a student and after school got very less time to manage extra things other than sleeping at night and studing. For that i usde to do certain things at a single time like watching tv or cartoons with books in my hand reading with chatting on the phone etc.
but now i cannot go with it,i can handle only one work at a time so i cannot read when the music is on,if i try to read also nothing goes of to my mind.

music is my addiction..i need music at all times..whether i read or do any work or sleep..soft background music is what i need. i know many of them feel it very difficult to concentrate with music on and can cause a lot of distraction..but for me it stimulates my mind and helps me concentrate better and surprisingly the results i give r better with the music turned on..

yes it really depends on the person and the habits. I always had this habit of studying with the television set on with some music channel coming on it, or with a loud volume of music on my music system. It did not distracted me. In fact it worked for me in the reverse way. I could very easily forget about the outside world and withing some good music i would shake a bit while continuing on my reading.
