Do you keep cash in your house?

I don't like to keep lots of cash lying around the house. You never know what might happen. But we do keep some petty cash for daily expenses like gas for the car; daily food, etc. That stuff doesn't come out of our debit card or checking account. And we don't use credit cards anymore. Do you keep cash around your house for daily expenses? Or, do you use a credit card or ATM withdrawal whenever you need money?

Only whats in our wallets and my son's piggy bank. I pay majority of our bills online and only carry cash when I know I'm going out the next day to buy groceries or take my son somewhere. Most of the time I pay using our debit card.

Ditto! Love bill pay online. I have the car insurance, broadband bill and life insurances set to deduct automatically from the prepaid debit card. Bill pay has spoiled me rotten. Almost don't know what to do when someone sends me a bill anymore that can't be paid online!

I don't leave alot of money laying around my place. I will have like 20.00 in my wallet and I have a bucket of loose change in my bedroom but that's it. I have peope come over and I can't take chances with that kind of thing. I have a debit card that if I need money I can use that to take out a few more dollars if need be but keep it hidden well so it's not in hand reach or in the sight of others.

I don't carry, nor do I keep cash around. Really, the only times that I carry cash are when someone gives it to me as a holiday present or for some other reason. I just don't like to carry it. I use my debit card or a credit card to pay for everything. If I lose my cash, there is no way to get it back. If my debit or credit card is stolen, it can be proven and I can get that money back. Granted, there are times where funds may not be recovered but, there is a better chance of recovery with a debit or credit card than a zero chance with cash. Once the cash is gone...it is gone. Period. But, being a pretty grounded and realistic person, I do see the benefits and bad sides to both forms of money. So, I am careful no matter what form of money I happen to have on me.

We do not use ATM Cards and Credit Cards for transactions. We do not have as many ATMs that our life would be easier, nor do we use Credit cards because the amount of interest they apply on the arrears is very high. So we prefer to withdraw the money and keep them at home rather than run to the back for every drop of the hat. bourne

yes i do, but, i try to find it a good hiding place where nobody would even look for it. you've got to be careful these days for people robbing your house blind, or the fact that a friend comes over, and than he takes the money. and you not knowing of the friend, but, figure he's all count. that's about probably the worst to be getting rob. is that your friend done this to you.

We do keep some petty cash for emergency purposes. We brought our daughter to the clinic the other day coz of fever and its important that cash is available. No need to rush to the nearest ATM.

I use eithe my debit or credit card for everything, so it is very rare that you will find cash in my house. When school is in, I do keep a cup full of $1 bills and a cup full of quarters for lunch money.

I always try to keep some cash on hand. You never know when you will need it. Like yesterday for example. I was with my sister at the gas station and the credit card machines were not working. We had to pool our cash together to fill up the tank. My ex boyfriend used to make fun of me for how I kept my money that I kept in the house. I would never just leave it lying around. I used to put it somewhere. It changed all the time. Once it was in the pantry inside a container, in an envelope and taped somewhere out of sight....he made fun of it, but he started doing it too.

We certainly keep some cash in the huse,it would be awkward if there wasnt anything to hand, but we dont keep a lot about. In this day and age its not wise to.When you think of my granny lol she used to keep money hidden everywhere in her house, but nowadays that would be seen as rather silly.I just use my debit card if im shopping or if I need to buy anything larger when im out.
