I am thinking about it for a month now. I already have pet dogs, a cat and a guinea. I want to have another pet. I saw a talking parrot in my neighborhood and was amazed by it sine I am also a chatterbox. Last week, I went to my dentist and saw her new aquarium with 8 goldfishes inside of it. They are beautiful and I miss being in the beach. I want to have them both but my parents only allowed one pet to add to those I already have. Which should I choose? A parrot or the goldfishes? If you were in my situation, which would you prefer and why? I need your insights. Thank you so much!

for i have had both and will never git a fish tank again
as much as i like fish , to much maintence for me.
a parrot well that depends on how much you want to blow.
if you are looking for a big size bird like a african gray
or cockatoo your looking at any where between $800.00
to $1,500.00 dollars cockatoo are awsome birds had one
reall sweety . We adopted him because his owner said he
was mean and nasty. well he was at first and it took us awhile
but he turned out to be sweety . Cockatoos are very load thow
very load. If this is your first bird i would not recomend
a large parrot. You have to know alot about birds what there eyes
are telling you so you know when there are pissed and dont want to be
bothered , i would have to recomend a cockatiel or a senagel parrot.
Senagel parrots can talk , and they are sweet demeanor like the cocktiel.
Sorry for the long story hope this helps if you have any questions
just ask , have had alot of birds over the years and they are great
pets.

WELL LIKE I SAID BEFORE DEPENDS ON THE SIZE BIRD you GIT
SENAGEL PARROTS ARE BETWEEEN $200.00 to 400.00 dollars
depending on where you git one . They can be great talkers
and they are a sweet bird. cockatiels are between $60.00
to 180.00 depending on what color you git . they are also
very sweet birds and can be taught to talk , but it takes
alot of work. I hear every one in this post saying birds
are messy , well they can be with there food at times but
for me i would rather take a vacume out and suck up the food
then clean out a fish tank. well i hope i help you out
and please let us know which one you choose. good luck.

Hi Shin...
The decision mainly depends on how much time you can spend for the pet...I have had both parrots and fishes before, both are lovely, but with a parrot, there are many advantages than that of a fish i guess, according to my experience,
1. first and formost thing, a bird is a personal pet, you can take him in your hand whenever you feel like to play with him.
2. Fish are good if you can spend only a little amount of time in a day, but when you do have to clean the tank it's a great pain.
3. Parrot's can be noisy, once you have taught them to speak, they always keep speaking something or the other mainly whenever someone passess by him.
4. Fishes other than the gold fish have a very short living period, they dont survive long
you can decide now...

i have a talking bird and boy can he talk, but he lives out side under my pergola lol lucky as he never shuts up he calls all our names he calls my poor dog tyson and tyson runs up to the bird as if to say what do you want now..its really cute so if you plan on having the bird out side then i say get a bird
you will love it and we got our bird at 4 weeks old so he leant from a baby and that when its easy to teach them how to talk..

Fishy... But try guppies instead of goldfish, then breed the guppies... Then sell it if you want to... You will not just enjoy taking good care of fishes, you will also earn some more. Or try Koi, it's a bit expensive but breeding it can give you luck (according to Chinese) but also money if you sell it... :)

I prefer the goldfishes because they bring good charm to the house. If you are going to buy, pick 8 golden fishes and 1 black fish. It will bring prosperity and abundance to your family. Good luck!

It'd definitely be fish for me. Birds are very messy and can be very mean and difficult. Fish are a lot of fun, low maintenance, inexpensive to care for (for the most part), and are really fun to watch. I've been attacked by pet birds too often to even consider getting one!

For me I will choose the goldfishes because you can keep the fish anywhere and its easier to maintain. You can also make money from gold fishes onece they started to breed.
