It really all depends on what works for you. the pros and cons were very well sorted and once again range cheap melee okay and mage expensive. depends wat you like. also there are different useful aspects of each.
range= different training methods including cannon
mage= you have things like high alchemy and teleport for bonuses on the very strong skill
mele=...
but along comes the other skills to make these skills cheaper smithing runecrafting and fletching
smithing is most expensive whether its your time spent on mining or your money spent on ores.
fletching is second most expensive but worth it more for mage than for range because of high alch and the price of bows being so cheap.
rune crafting may be the hardest but is definitely the most worth while because of nats and law making
so all in all i would have to say that mage might be the most worth while because of the added bonuses
str and attack if mage is your main should always be kept atleast at half the lvl of mage.
and same the other way around
range however is the only combat skill that could be very successful by its self (not high skill in other combat oriented skills)
but i recommend having a pretty well balanced account

ok this is a difficult one it all depends really on what you plan on doing and if you are rich and dedicated enough so i will list the pros and cons of the combat styles on members
melee pros:
*Very powerful
*Large range of armors and weapons
*One off payments on most melee equipment
*Decent speed
melee cons:
*Not able to safespot
*Incredibly weak towards magic
*Decent armors and weapons are very expensive
Range pros:
*Very fast attacks
*Good all-round armors
*Very cheap weapons and armor (mainly)
*Can safespot
*The best combat style against jad
*Quickest exp of all the combat styles
Range cons:
*Weakest attacks out of all combat styles (but the speed makes up for that)
*Can be expensive for the best armors and weapons
*You have to buy/make your own arrows
Magic pros:
*Most powerful attacks and effects
*Can safespot
*Has useful non-combat spells
*A huge diversity of spells
Magic cons:
*Very expensive
*Very weak armor
So my overall judgment is that if you are:
Rich but have little patience=range
Poor but lots of patience=melee
Poor but have little patience=range
Very rich=mage
I hope that I have helped

if you are non mem many people suggest to have melee and magic because range is not that good. but for mem, they have a freely choise of choosing their own (since they can make almost anything) so you should train your other skill before worried your combat skill

I think u should do magic. With anchient magiks u can do ice barrage with does 30 damage and freezes ur opponent for 20 seconds.U can also do blood barrage which does 29 damage and heals u 1/4 the damage u did. U can do smoke barrage which does 28 damage and lowers ur opponents attack level. The last powerful spell u can do is shadow barrage which does 27 damage and posions ur opponent which does 2-4 extra damage. However to do anchient magik u need to finish desert treasure. With the Lunar Spellbook u can do a lot of healing spells for ur self and others. U can also do vengence in which u will do the damage u usually do plus up to 75% the damage origanally dealt from ur opponent. U have to finish Lunar Diplomicy to do the lunar spellbook.

I think you should be some combination of melee and magic.
Melee is important because you need high defense whichever combat style you choose
and you can use melee on almost every monster that do you want to kill.
The magic has many options like teleports and stuns which helps you when melee-ing
and it is also very powerful on it's own when you use ancient magics.
Lunar spells can be used to train other skills too.
And if you want not so expensive way to kill monsters and use dragonhide then
you should train your ranged.

I agree. it can be very useful to have a high mage to help you in melee battles, but i think that range is the best because there is no hand-to-hand combat and you can reuse arrows.
