My family name is Hu which originats from one ancient ethnic named Xiong Nu in China. Now the ethnic has been extinct, but it is said that the later generation of the ethnic is present Hungarian.
In addition,in the word"Hungary", the part"hun" likely represent the name of the ethnic, and the part"gary" is a name of place. The whole meaning of "Hungary"is a place where the ethnic live, according to experts.
So,in China, if one person's family name is Hu,there are two cases, one case is that his/her ancestor is the very Xiong Nu people;the other case is that his/her ancestor changed the family name as a result of avoiding chase of enemies or other causes.
Well, that's the relative information about my family name. What about yours? Just show it please.

No, it seems that in America names don't mean anything.
To quote Bruce Willis in Pulp Fiction, "We're in America baby, names don't mean s**t"

Not sure of the origin, ut I just love the irony o the question. This question is ironic, because every member of my immediate family has a diferent lat ame, due to our rater intereting lie circumstances. My sister and I are both of the same father and mother, boh kept our names when we got married, bu I took Mom's maiden name beore getting married. Mom hyphenated wen she married a seond ime.
