i think that in one way they are a little too expensive because with my cell phone plan you have to rent the box to get the download out of(its a feature on the phone i honestly think to just get more money)its called realtone jukebox, and then you have to pay 2.99 without tax(yeah i didn't think you had to pay taxes either but apparently you do have to pay the taxes on it)and then you have to pay admin fees(whatever that is)and when you add all of that up its around seven dollars or so per ringtone and i do think that is a little expensive but you do get to keep the ringtone for as long as you want it, so thats a positive side...so what do you all think, do you think that they are too expensive? thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and i hope that you all have a great day today!

There are a lot of websites that allows you to get either a free ringtone or make your own... But for the ones I know, you'd have to have a data plan of some sort so I'm not sure how helpful it would be to you... I personally have never purchased a ringtone for that very reason... I've always made & downloaded my own... Here are some of the sites you can do this... www.myxer.com, www.phonezoo.com, www.nextpimp.com... Last link, nextpimp, you can choose one of the listed ringtone & download it to your computer, then either via bluetooth or data cable, you can transfer it to your phone...

Yeah, I agree, there is no sense in paying for your ringtones if you can just make them yourself. The sites you mentioned are great. I have a new one that I have been using that been working out real well for me. They are new but real simple to use www.bongotones.com

You have told me something that I dint know, the price of a ringtone,I have always used the ones on the cell phone /mobile phone, then one day when I was working a friend said to me that she had a new ringtone on her cell phone, and she was able to send to to my cell phone for free,so I took her up on the offer, but I have never ever bought one as yet.

I don't buy ringtones any more. I can make my own on my phone and that's great because I get what I want. One thing I didn't like about when I did buy ringtones was that they didn't transfer from phone to phone when you got a new one. That seemed like a big waste to me.

I find "caller tunes" expensive.
With me ring tones are not at all expensive as you can just download any song you want from your computer to your phone and then use it as your ring tone its as simple as that.
But for caller tunes you have to contact your phone plan so that they can set the caller tunes for you and yes that is way too expensive!!!
That is why I do not use any caller tune at all.
I can not give away half of my balance just over caller tunes ..!!
I can live with "tring trings"!!

Yeah, I think ringtones are expensive too, if we want to get ringtones, we have to pay for it too, like you said using the realtone jukebox will cost you. We can also pay an extra 9.95 a month for this program from our cell phone carrier and we'll be able to get ringtones that way, but with prices of cell phone bills these days who has the extra 10 bucks? I know I don't...some people use the bluetooth on their phones, if your phone has bluetooth on it, you can use another persons phone that has it too, they can send you ringtones from their phone. I know alot of people do that too, I don't see why you have to pay for ringtones if you can just use your bluetooth and get them free..don't make sense, they are just trying to get money out of people.

There are a lot of free sites to custom make your own ringtones but some phones do not support the content so you cannot send them to yourself. The problem I have with just ordering or paying for them is that there isn't always a big selection. I would even pay $2 or whatever for something that would ALLOW me to send content to my phone from the free sites. I like having something different that nobody else has.

I guess some ring tones are only available when you purchase them.
Here at our country, and else where too I think, ring tones can be shared through wireless connectivity and some can even get it from the net and load it into their mobile phones.
I was also a member of a particular site which went along with mobile phones and there was a thread there that you can post your requests and others who would view and know the request that you are asking for, would upload the file for you and others to get.
Well, as long as you mobile phone can connect o your computer, you can easily get a variety of ring tones without really spending so much.

They are outrageous!!! To buy a ringtone for an At&t phone is like $2.49. That is crazy!! The easiest way I have found to get cool ringtones without it costing a fortune is to use Bluetooth. My sister bluetooth's me ringtones all the time that she gets from other people so I never have to buy them! I would highly suggest using that method instead of getting ripped off by the cell phone carriers.

I have a simple plan to keep my cellphone inexpensive, I stay away from ringtones. I just have a simple ringtone which tells me a text message has come or a call has arrived. Nothing fancy for me and no expenses for expensive ring tones. Cheers!!

Usually I don't pay ringtones. I just use what are supplied in my phones. It might be because I'm getting old so it's not a matter for to be a bit out of date.
Also, I agree that ringtone downloading is quite expensive as well in my country.
It costs you about $0.42 per min. For your currency it may be very little. But for us(esp. parents who pay fee for their teens)it can cost you up to $28.57 per month if you keep downloading ringtones to cathc up the trend.
