Strange Echoes!

My lounge all except my computer and chair is packed up in my kitchen ready for my carpet being laid in the morning, all I have to do is unplug computer and roll desk out and then completely bear but it feels eerily strange and echoey and I think before long I will wheel in kitchen and go off up to bed. Even the typing on the keyboards is loud and sounds spooky with the echo. I am here alone also as my childminder has my son overnight so that he doesn't try to help the carpet people in the morning as they coming first thing. My imagination is running riot right now. So tell me do you ever spook yourself? What normal noises have scared you in the past? Does your vivid imagination takover sometimes? Have you any spooky stories to share? Don't scare me too much though LOL. Ellie :D

Oooooooh those voices yes scare me too! Wow if you want stories I am sure Darkwing has many to share and so have I even though nothing at my present address but have been disturbed by something passing through at times, some sort of etheral doorway perhaps, who knows but when Darkwing was at mine the TV which is brand new switched itself off at 3am as we said we had better make a move up to bed, it was the actual switch rather than just standby where perhaps the remote could have been knocked and neither of us were near the TV at the time. There used to be a little girl called Amy living in one of my old houses who was a real mischief and I used to tell her off the same as I would my own daughter, the worst thing she ever done was put al the goldfish in a mickey mouse pencil case without a drop of water being spilt so I knew it couldn't have been d a 3 year old and 2 1/2 year old as they wre both dry, not even a splash on the side of the tank which they couldn't have reached anyway and my daughters friend said it was my daughters friend, I put the fish back and other than a few bits of tail or fin missing they were all fine but I was sooo mad. Another time on my daughters third birthday all her friends were playing and suddenly she said Amys here and looked at the centre of the sofa as we saw an indent appear and the two mothers either side jumped up and ran out of the room. Her main trick was hiding hairbrushes (23)though and opening doors. Wasn't scared at all by it though. Ellie :D

Ooooo, ghost stories, alright, set the campfire, hot chocolate, okay here we go. One night a friend and I were working at the church, it was late, around 11:00pm. We were in a part of the church that was away from our cars and it was raining. My friend and I were finishing up and we started to head home. We walked through the offices and headed towards our cars. We had parked at the back of the lot and it had finally stopped raining but it was a summer night and it was foggy and the parking lot was steaming. As we headed towards our cars my friend noticed something white sitting in his drivers seat. He calmly said, "I think there's someone sitting in my car." We both focused our eyes on his car and it looked like there was somebody sitting in the car. We both freaked, he started walking towards his car, I followed. About half way there I froze, I felt a weird sense come over me and I couldn't go any further. He kept walking and when he turned around to see if I was still there he froze because I had stopped a long way back. He got closer and closer to the car and finally reached the door handle. He opened it up and stared in disbelief.....

It wasn't a ghost at all. His wife had come by earlier and laid his sweatshirt on the seat. The way she put it on the seat was with the hood part fully set where the headrest was. We saw each other last week and I mentioned that night and we both laughed at how silly it was. So, don't worry about freaky sounds, spirits have to stretch their legs too.

Hi Winterose, It is funny that you should mention the cats scaring you, I put both of mine out earlier and shut the kitchen door so when they came in they are confined to there and I am in this empty room typing away and I hear thud thud thud coming down the stairs, oooooooh, turned round and one of my cats had came in through an open window upstairs and come back down them, sigh. Really scared me though for a minute. LOL. Ellie :D

That is spooky my friend... I keep thinking back to the TV that night... I would freak out if it were me alone there, with just the computer for company. Maybe you should have inserted a disc and listened to some music instead of the constant loud clatter of the keyboard. I've told you of my spooky experiences before, and they were never of my own making, so I'll not go there again, if you don't mind, my friend. I would imagine you have your carpet fitted by now, and everything has been softened again. I hope you smudged before having it laid!!! Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxx

Hi Darkwing, all cleansed and sorted and carpet fitted and warmer already. Jacob being a very good boy and drinking and eating only in the kitchen too bless. I mentioned to Littleowls response that there is nothing here except on occasion and a couple of strange things happened whilst you were staying but I couldn't remember what, I remember the TV now but I am sure there was something else upstairs to do with the landing, not sure though, minds all over the place at the moment. Thanks for the get well card, appreciated. Ellie :D

ive got enough spooky freakish activity that isnt my imagination to suit me just fine LOL but i did go a bit paranoid the other night... i was taking a shower.. reached out to put my toothbrush on the windowsill to keep it from getting all soapy (yes, i brush my teeth in the shower) and when i looked out the wndow.. there was a silvery light moving across the backyard where there ought notve been. i hollared to mal.. but he was asleep. so i hurried quick rinsed off, jumped out, threw my clothes back on and headed downstairs.. whispered my brothers name into the livingroom where he was sprawled on the couch and he popped up producing a weapon from out of no where and we headed outside. boy didnt i ever feel the nitwit.. the light, was the reflection of the moon on the kids wadingpool/slip & slide. from the upstairs window it looked totally different, and i got all wigged for nothing LOL i will leave the real deal freaky stuff alone as yer already freaked enough all on yer own

Spooky stories? Well I guess, many times when I am alone at home with no one around I kind of feel scared by the movements of the curtains or some light waves...Ours is a big house and moving around at night could be scary! Even though I have gotten used to it by now still at times I feel scared.....so no ghost movies for me at night. Huggles.

Hi Beautyqueen, yes I had trouble sleeping last night also left myLot at arounf 10.30 did get to sleep but one of the neighbours woke me up at 1.30 with loud booming music, guess that was an unusual noise eh! LOL and this morning when I looked at my phone for the time I thought it said 8.10 whereas it in fact said 6.10 so I shot up out of bed washed and dressed and came down thinking the carpet fitters will be here any moment and then realised the time ooops, but I am up now. Early night for me tonight I guess in a non echoey house. LOL. Ellie :D

Oh, ellie333, I am never scared in my own home until my husband is gone! And all the familiar noises suddenly become unfamiliar. Yes, sometimes my imagination takes over. But I usually quickly get it under control. The only scary stories I have have to do with gigantic bugs that are here in FL. Every time my husband is gone, it seems that spiders or creepy crawlies the size of Volkswagens somehow get in to the house! EEEEEEEEEwwwwwwwww!

I bet you are really excited! I would be, it is funny how a room echo's so much when it is empty, I have noticed that before and it is a spooky feeling. I have a bit of a spooky story to share, well I though it was spooky anyway I was just upstairs in my bedroom and the bedroom window was open, as I turned my back to the window there was a noise and the window shut itself. Yes I know what you are thinking, wind, well my windows are massive and they open from the top and they just pull down and out, they are also heavy so to shut them they have to be pushed up. Technically it is impossible for the wind to shut this window. I told my hubby about it, and he said "It cannot have been open, I shut it when I came up before" I said you cannot of done because it was open! The handle of the window is stiff and has to be turned UP to open it so I really do not know, we are both baffled LOL

Hi Gemini_rose, well you have had some strange stuff happen in that room so I believe it wasn't the wind. I am excited about the carpet though, haven't been back into discussion to let everyone know what I chose yet but I have gone with a neutral colour rather than the green or maroon so am having a dark beige fleck which will blend in with any colouring really and also not show the odd spill stain that with children is bound to happen. Just as I was typing this response I heard thud thud thud coming down the stairs and turned to see what it was and one of my cats had somehow got in through my open upstairs window. I had let both out earlier so it made me jump LOL. Ellie :D

I've just moved into a rented house which seems to have no noise insulation whatsoever. It's got a plastic bead curtain in front of the front door, intended to keep out flies when the front door is open. The damned thing blows in the slightest wind and bangs against the door. When I'm not leaping up to let an imaginary person in, I'm cowering in my bed wondering who is breaking in! Oddly, I don't hear it when there's another adult home but when I'm home alone it seems twice as loud. The other night I was having what was meant to be a nice relaxing bath whilst the blokes popped over the road for a drink. I left the door open a few inches so I could hear the little on if he awoke, but of course then I became paranoid about OH coming home with our guests and walking straight into the sight of me in the bath. Every time those beads hit the front door I was convinced it was them putting their key in the lock and leapt out of the bath to shut the door. Then I'd realise it was a false alarm and get back in. Then two minutes Iater I'd be out again, and so on! So much for a relaxing bath!! Eventually I gave up. I hate that curtain, but we can't get it down without damaging the door frame :-(

Hi GrrenMoo, I think that would scare me too. I always have the bathroom door open too so I can hear if my little one wakes too but I am not expecting anyone to turn the key in the door and catch me in there LOL. The curtain would drive me mad. I know you can't take it down without damaging the door frame but is there any way it could maybe be tied back or something when you shout main door. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

good day.. If I'm in your situation I'll open my stereo and play music, that way it will mask all the odd sounds produce by those echoes. I think that music would occupy my mind and will let me work the things need working out.

How exciting, ellie - I hope your new carpet is down by the time you read this! A few years ago we had new carpet, and when we pulled up the old stuff I was thinking how lovely the floorboards looked, and that it would be nice to have NO carpet. After a few days though, I changed my mind. It was cold, echoey and very noisy! By the time the carpet layers came, I was happy to have the carpet laid and the house feeling 'normal' again. And yes, I certainly do get spooked. I don't like being in the house alone at night (which doesn't happen often, but a few months ago my husband AND son happened to be away overnight at the same time) - and there are certain computer games I'd never dare play if there was nobody else here! I had a very strange experience one night last year when I went into the ensuite in the dark in the early hours of the morning. As I was coming out, it felt as if there was a solid, black mass in front of me, and I actually stumbled backwards in order not to run into it. It was a very strange feeling, as the initial impression had been that my husband was coming into the room - though I could clearly see he was still asleep in bed. Horrible!

Hi Guybrush, I am awake its morning but they are not fue to arrive with the carpet for another hour or so. I am excited though and do hope that I have made the right choice and that it will look good when down. Whoah, That one coming out of your ensuite doesn't sound like a god experience at all. These like this don't usually bother me that much but a block of black that felt solid like a person shivers up the spine. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D

Hi ellie, hmmm...I have tried that several times..One of the most unforgettable for me was when I was with 2 friends and we were sleeping so deep after our group study..It was 2 am in the morning and we heared little girls running around and playing in the next room...They are like partying and been bumping the tables and chairs..It was really very noisy! I woke up my 2 other friends and after listening for like 2 minutes, we decided to check the room since we knew it was empty..We were walking slowly and suddenly open the door, and it was nothing there, the table and chairs are arranged properly! We even can't sleep back after that!

Hi Ellie you make me laugh being on your own feeling like that and wanting spooky stories!! Am sure Darkwing and Tamara will tell you some -I have few people in spirit living with me, at one time Tamara came and stayed overnight but asked me beforehand to ask everyone to leave her alone-I did-the following day we were going to glastonbury-everything was fine during the night but in the morning I felt a gentle nudge on my shoulder the first time I ignored it but it kept on turning to Tamara I asked what she wanted as the alarm hadn't gone off,she looked at me and I thought you nudged me or the dog got on the bed I laughed and knew it had probably been my nan that had gently woken us up so we wouldn't be late to go for the train-even now she says she won't stay in my house again!! huggles littleowl - oh there are a lot of other stories I could tell you especially when I lived on my own and at Tamara's mum's house for a while huggles

hi ellie333 I know what its like to be alone and hear spooky noises that make you think something is in the house . I was alone one night as my adult son was pulling 'an all nighter at his job. I read until late and was 'about to turn out the light,it wasonly eleven but I was tired. well someone knocked on my front door. I was afraid so I pulled my sons old baseball bat out and set it'by the front door. I opened the door to a scroungy looking young' man who claimed he was from the tustin high school and selling magazine subscriptions to get points towards a hiawiian vacationl well he was in shirt sleeves, and a tad old for high school. he asked me for a glass of water. I said wait right there.I carried the glass in one hand and my baseball bat in the other. He tried to finish his speech but he kept looking at the bat and he drank the water in a gulp. I had noticed earlier he had needle tracks on both arms, a junkie, how he ever got in to our complex, we have a gated community with locked car gate and locked pedistian gate. He took one look at me just swinging the bat in my right hand, and he took off running in a real sprint. I locked my front door, sat down and shook all over. I told my son about it and he said I should have called the police, but that is problematic as we live over the city line so we have to call the sheriffs department.lol. I was not hurt just scared silly.

Hi Hatley, you were brave, I probably wouldn't have even opened the door but then you must have thought it was a neighbour if you were in a secure complex eh! Yes ellie. I have spooked myself many times. But, mostly when I was drinking. Since I don't do that anymore I don't see and hear as many things.Stop caring yourself! It's just the emptiness of the room. When I got my apartment painted 2 months ago and took the pictures of the walls the rooms all echoed and it was weird. But we got used to it. It will sound better tomorrow. Now just go to bed and forget it! When you wake up the workers will be there and everything will be ok. Nighty night now dear friend!
