When my stepson started kindergarten, first and second grade, his teachers were all very friendly during Open House, "good vibes". They were great for the entire year, too. I was welcomed at every school function, notified of everything straight from the teachers, treated no differently than any other parent of any other child.
When he started 3rd grade, the teacher was nice to me until introductions were complete. My husband, myself, Ex-Wife, and Stepson all went in together to meet the lady. She took one look at me after "step-mom" came out of my mouth, rolled her eyes, and ignored me the rest of the YEAR. Through all of the projects, field days, holiday dinners, nothing but the teacher's rolling eyes. Never a "thank you", or even a "kiss my @ss". Nice, huh?

Yes, we have.. twice, once at the PTA meeting for the newbies and then a settling in session for the reception.
She did give me a good feeling as she was quite happy and cheerful and comfortable to speak to me like she'd known me a while so I look forward to speaking to her more in the year

We don't do that this year until August 21st. In the past it has always been a positive experience. We live in a really good school district, and my kids went to a very good elementary school. I never once heard anyone say anything bad about any of the teachers there. Now both of my oder kids are going to be in Junior High, my daughter started there last year, and got a really nice homeroom teacher. She liked all of her teacher by the end of the year.

That sounds wonderful to me. I think a lot of how well a child does in school as to do with how they get started. A good teacher who connects with your child can make a lot of difference down the road. You are blessed in this, I think.

Well, since I home school my kids I'd have to say yes, they've met their teacher for the year. I'm glad that you like your childs kinder teacher, we've liked the teachers that our first child has had, they were interested in educating as well as learning from our child.

Not yet. My daughter wont meet her teacher until the day before school starts when they have back to school night. She will meet her teacher and see what classroom she will be in. She will be in a different school then her preschool was so it will take her some time to get used to.
