I started out taking teaching in college in 1969 because I didn't really realize all the fields I could have gone into instead. Plus, I had always loved kids, so this seemed a natural choice for me. Unfortunately, when I student taught, I hated teaching.
So, I went out and got a job where I remained for 14 years. I stayed home for awhile with my kids. Then I finally got back into the teaching field because it pays better than anything else I can get. I wouldn't recommend teaching to any young person, though. It's turned into an almost impossible job with no percs, no support, no money, and high stress levels.

I've had a long and varied employment history in the secretarial field. My first job out of high school was working for 5 officers of a bank. Very interesting job, which included handling wire transfers of money for the Navy payroll in our area. After getting married and having two kids, I worked for attorneys for over 20 years. Never a dull moment there. After leaving the legal field, I worked for a large commercial development company in their retail development and leasing division. I followed that with a job with a company that selected sites for national restaurant chains. Then I retired. Got tired of that after five months and a neighbor asked me to help out where she worked. I've now been in that job (working for a financial investment firm) for almost 5 years. This has been my favorite job since I only work part time and I choose which days and what hours I work. I can also do a lot of the computer work from home and don't have to go into the office every day. The best of two worlds. Just enjoy what you do and you should do great.

First, look what you like most.
Then, see if you like doing that (you start in the morning and when you finish you watch that have past 6 hours! hehe)
If you like that you do you will be the best on this work.
Except if you don't know anything at all. Then choose a job where you make 2-3 times more than a 9-5 job.
