Do you know the reasons behind mylotting posts: one line vs multi-lines

it's common issue that most people begin to refuse to answer the one-line question, and prefer to respond to the multi-lines posts or discussions. i just came across a survey and it showed that the writing ability is closely related with the speaking ability in native language, vocabulary, and the native language writing ability, that's to say, if someone posts 1-line discussion, it may mean that he/she has a poor writing ability or limited vocabulary to supported him/her to write long. i know as long as you are a mylotter, you must have posted some posts here, if you have post a one-line response, would you like to tell why not longer, if you have posted a multi-line response, why not shorter? lol

I try to always post multi lined discussions. I feel you can get across what you are wanting to know if you give details before asking a question. Sometimes I will ask multiple questions about the same topic in hopes to get more of a full picture in the responses.
When it comes to responding, I try to give multi lined responses. Main reason is because this is how I respond in person. The other reason is you get paid better if you give detail.
I will give one line response if I don't have anything much to say, but want to let the poster know I have read their discussion.

at first, i always posted short discussions and wait for others' responses and re-responded to them, but now i feel it's better for me to post longers ones, you know, more lines indicate more thoughts on the discussion, if i have not musch to say, i just skip the discussion, and no posting.

I don't know about that. Maybe they can not just think of enough to say or the topic is not very deep. I have to say that I have started both at one time or another. I prefer the short answers because I can breeze through them real quickly.

Yeah i have replied to a few but i read in other members posts that you don't get rewarded for one lined questions and a decent reply not just an answer to a question like "What month were you born? And how old are you?" These discussions are worthless and just flood the system with people trying to earn a quick buck. Earn more with quality discussion and ignore spammers and one lined discussions.

i dont think that is something to od with ability. sometime we have a good discussion inside our heads but cant put it in words, so sometimes we ended up just starting a discussion with just few lines or a short explaination. most members would rather response multi-line because earnings starts to count on four lined responses. so i think thats the reason they would rather response long so the response to discussion with long explaination

lol, you know, if we can't put what we think in our heads into words, that means that we lack the ability to manipulate our words, and if we explain our discussions a little bit longer, that may trigger more thoughts from others. when it comes to earnings, i think it's also a factor that people begin to post at least four lines. thank you for your response. lol

In my opinion, some questions only command or require one sentence. Usually a one line question gets one line responses. Maybe because on line questions seem less important than multi-lined questions. Some subjects I'm only interested enough to give one line answers. If it's a subject I enjoy discussing I will give multi-lined answers. Well, I'm answered out.

Well, it depends on the topic. Obviously there are those who always post one-line topics or posts, and that may reflect badly on their language ability. However, some topics just aren't deep enough to merit a multi-line response. For instance, I've seen topics asking about favorite fruit--there isn't much to discuss about in that topic other than naming your favorite fruit and your reasons. It could very easily be summed up in one line.
Some people also prefer being succinct (kind of like Hemmingway, eh?) and if they can hit their point well by writing succinctly, that's still fine.

as to the "favortite" type and similar questions, people do respond in a one line way, but meanwhile, we can also see that there are some people who can still answer several lines, they write not only to the direct quetions, they will aso tell us why, when, how, which...lol

I do reply to both types of posts, though too big questions are often irritating to read, if not a good topic. Never thought like that before, will try to have an analyzing mind like that pal.

you are probably right, i guess, one-line discussion always trigger a one-line response, or shorter, and multi-lined discussion always draw many and long responses, you know, there is a saying that happiness begets happiness, sorrow begets sorrow, so 1 line begets i line, i think ...

Personally, I usually post multi-lines for the simple reason that I am a motor mouth when speaking. That plus the fact that I type fast makes for many lines in an answer. Also, I try to put in my opinion or facts about a discussion so that I better answer the question. I feel that discussions cannot go on if they are only one line long. It pretty much ends any discussion right then and there.
I don't think I could ever respond with just a one-line question unless it was a very short one-line question in the first place.

Have a great day and happy myLotting![/b]

I use both one liners and multi liners. I don't think it has anything to with intelligence in the way you described.
Yes an intelligent person will be able to explain an event in more words and description and therefore have a longer post.
But an intelligent person might be able to articulate their phrases so that all that they want to say is said in a short one line.
An example of this:
Intelligent person - I can smell cabbage.
Less Intelligent person - I can smell something, you know that vegetable, it looks like a lettace, but it is cooked. Oh I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me.
Just because someone rambled for ages, does that make them more intelligent? No it just means sometimes they cannot articulate what they want to say.

lol, you are absolutely right, i'm not saying those who post one-lines are less intelligent people, i'm just saying some of them are, i know that there must be a complex combination of reasons behind that why people post one-line discussions, say, age, gender, education, mood...are also to be taken into account. lol

For me, it doesn't matter how long or how short your post was as long as you effectively delivered your idea. One line response can have a deeper meaning than in a multi-line response. Yes, sometimes a short response doesn't make any sense to the discussion but, it still depends on the person who posted it. Other posters also make a multi-line response but they only have the same idea (they are just going around the bush) and ended up on the same thing.
The reason for making a one line response is just that they do not have much something to say about the discussion. Sometimes, they just want their posts straight to the point.
On the other hand, the reason for making a multi-line response is they have a lot of things to share to a particular topic, they may cite some examples or based from their experience. Others are, they just make it 4-5 sentences to make their profit a little bit higher. Lolz.

One more thing, yes it is quite true that we can base how a person can write on how they speak. But some people maybe like authors, poetics, etc are more comfortable expressing their feelings through writings. Others are more comfortable in speaking rather than in writing. Well, everyone is different.

you can't always write a pre-decided number of lines. sometimes the questions are very simple like "what is your fav song"
now how can u answer that question in more than 3 lines? sometimes the question requires you to post a lot of details, or asks for your personal views......that time the answer has to be long. it doesnt always have to do with vocab......

I do not know much about that theory or is it a fact already. I don't consider myslef a good writer, but I truly enjoy writing a response or post in here. Maybe it is because of the monetary exchange when I am posting in here. But, seldom do I write a one liner post in here. My shortest maybe would be a two sentence long and seldom do i remember writing in one liner post.

the survey can be right, but i thik its not always the same. i mean, the reason can't just be that. there are times that they gave a single line response because they just dont have much to say about the topic but doesnt really mean they are not good communicators. and some wants to have more posts, not minding how long their responses are. like say, i want to get to 500 post already, in order fot me to reach five hundred posts faster so that i can do copy and pasting is to reply to responses with very short lines. it really depends.

Hello, XoyyoX.
I disagree with you. I think that being limited in a certain language does not mean that you cannot make a bigger response. There are people who really doesn't know how to write English pretty well, but they will still try to share their ideas. It is important, first of all, to have the creativity. Also, it changes from person to person: there are people who really doesn't like to think. They think that it consumes too much of their time. So, what do they do? Yes, that's right. They put one line answer.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Hey, there is nothing to forgive you about. I am not angry, nor I am saying that you are wrong. I just have a different opinion. I am from a non-english speaking country, but you can see that I do not just answer in one line. I am just saying that people shouldn't use this excuse to justify their acts.

lol Forgeive me if you think that way, i don't mean any racial or linguistic discrimation that people from like, non-english speaking countries, write in different length due to its nationality, and you are right, and i do know that some people here, like me, lol, though have limited language do post multi-lined responses and still try to share their ideas. lol what i mentioned in the survey are just some of the reasons. thanks for ur response, munhozmib lol

I never post one line responses or discussions as mylot does not pay for them and I do like to get paid for my effort while I am enjoying mylotting and mylot friends. I do not do short, I do five or six lines as I want people to understand my discussion and respond to it not pass it by.I have some writing ability and some speaking ability so why should I dumb it down?

I respond to one liners sometimes when the questions interesting. For example, Coke or Pepsi kind of questions are very easy to respond to. But I'll have to be more creative in expounding my answer so that it reaches at least the minimum four lines. I guess the reason why people don't expound so much and tend to write one liners is because people like me like reading one liners more? Or you may be right about their writing ability.

This is a simple question for me. I post the way I talk. I
don't talk in one line questions or answer them in one line
answers. I don't feel that you can convey a thought in just
one sentence. In order to post a good discussion you need
to elaborate and that takes more of a description than you
can get into one line. If you have trouble speaking, you
are going to have trouble responding to discussions here.
It will be just as difficult to convey thoughts with one
line responses to most of the discussions that are posted.
