why do people keep insisting that one line discussions are okay?

mybe this is just my rant as I try my best not to post
one line discussions or to respond with just one line
but a lot of people here seem to think that its just
fine to put out a lot of oneliners. I was under the
impression that mylot really does not like oneliners
and that they really do not pay much. What are your
takes on this mylotters? Do we really need any more
what flavor of ice cream is your favorite?
What fruit is your favorite?
What color is your favorite color?

Lets see Hatley..
favorite ice cream is chocolate..
Favorite fruit is strawberries..
Favorite color is bluegreen...
sorry i just couldn't pass that up and i bet alot do it too..
I try to do my best about having 2 or 4 lines in mine but do notice some that ask questions in about 4 words..this way they can i'm sure make more money by starting 50 discussions and you never see them respond back..
Huggs for your rant..hee hee

No we really don't need that sort of thing. But until we figure out a way to force all members to read the guidelines we'll have to deal with people who don't care enough to come up with something of substance to discuss.
I know the rules are hard for some people to read (especially our non native English speaking friends) and that is something admin needs to fix. But there are plenty of others, well versed in English, that are simply too lazy to write anything real. They do not pay well at all and then these same people complain about their earnings and run myLot down on other sites.
French vanilla, strawberries, blue...just in case you were curious!

I don't do one liners either way. I do not start them. I do not answer them.
I will not in a box.
I will not while eating lox.
I can not in a house.
I can not with a mouse.
I will not my friend.
Not even at the very end.

I usually just ignore them. They usually come from newbies so I really mostly respond to discussions that I get from my friends, who are way past these inane topics/questions.

some of the members maybe are not aware that they need to atleast post 4 lines. so members amybe again are not aware that their discussion started is also a post. i dont know what their reasons are but i feel what you are feeling. sometimes it is to tiring to see some doing that and it is tiring to educate them as well. it is not that easy to response on post with sucha short detail. i agree with you when it comes to ice cream interest... all of the discussion there is all the same.

hi roniroxas you know it really doesnt take too mucch more
thinking to make a meaty discussion as it does like one i saw yesterday title was okay a nd the topic was whatchadoing?
I knew it would get deleted but i wrote an answer telling the person that it was so short it would probably get deleted and to write at least four or five sentences in his discussion. lost points doing that.

Hi Hatley! I know what you mean. The majority of the ones I see, though, tend to be newer members who probably 1) think that since the more discussions you start or answer, the more you get paid, so they don't take the time to go into great detail and 2) have yet to realize that it really is MORE than simply a Pay-to site, but instead a true community.
Having said that, as with all communities, there are always some who don't play fair, like to bully others, cheat, complain about everything, gossip about everyone, and/or don't think the rules apply to them - instead preferring to get as much as possible with the least amount of effort so that they can have more than everyone else. They have often been here long enough to know better, but simply don't abide by that rule of etiquette because it's too inconvenient for them.
I'm also sure there are a few who remain clueless for quite a while because they don't even read the responses they receive preferring instead to rack up the participation numbers and never know that someone has probably pointed out somewhere along the line that they need to do more than post a simple question all the time. It's fine for the beginners, but not those who have supposedly matured with the site.
Myself - I've never been accused of saying too little. I've been told all too frequently (outside of myLot) that I need to be more succinct and get to the point sooner. So, I guess we come in all extremes!!
By the way - my favorite colors are lavender, maroon and sage green! LOL

Can you imagine wearing all three colors??? It would certainly give the Red Hat ladies a run for their money along with their purple blazers!!! LOL
But, true - a discussion is just that, although I do allow for language difference and the occasional failed effort where you can tell the person isn't sure they understand.

I do not like them. I have a temptation to go on their profile and check their ages and think that I am going to find that they are around sixteen or so. When I do that, I think "well they're really younger but since mylot has a policy of a minimum age and it is not twelve or eight, then they lied." So I figure that one line discussions shows immaturity. It is hard to write that much on on liners in response, so I guess they should write to myLot and ask for a contribution form for charity since they are using this as a chat room and not a discussion group.

Well, I personally have also been wondering lately how so many people are interested about what time it is at other parts of the world and asking questions to the users here to let them know. Why don't they just consult some website to know about them? It's just absurd to create discussions on such bogus topics. Sometimes I've even been surprised to see that a lot of people actually cough up responses to those stupid discussions, so that they even come up to the "top discussions" list. It's a shame. Do the people here also like to respond in one line as the discussions? I think that mentality is also at work, it gets up your number quickly. But of course, as you pointed out, they aren't much rewarding. This sort of things happen when the stock of good discussions to post is running dry but the user is still determined to post anything at all, anything to attract the attention of the world! One another thing which I've noted is that this sort of users usually fire one question after another so that in one single "new discussions" page, there are multiple questions posted by them. I think they make it their goal to cover an entire page with their own discussions. They perhaps race against other users to see how fast they can post discussions, whether or not it makes sense. Cheers.

hi abhi destar those discussions arent too interesting are they a and people with a ton of oneliners are also complaining about how little they make, you gotta put in some effort to get paid here. I would rather do one or two meaty ones than a dozen one liners.

Hi Hatley,
I am wondering also if they were able to bump different post here advising newbies about avoiding a one liner post..Anyway, I am approving each day newbies and mytime will be wasted deleting my notifications about those short post.
.I am not responding to them and wish they will be able to realize soon as well as topics which are common already or which was asked almost everyday here~!

I read a discussion from one poster who was furioous as her discussion was deleted because someone stuck referrall links in her response and I guess she did it to several different
discussions of the same poster and all of her discussions'were deleted.

I've noticed that those "one liner" discussions were from the newbie. trying to make discussions and still trying to study whatever about here in mylot. so if that one liner discussions came from a newbie, it was kinda OK for me, and acceptable..
but If I saw that it came from an old mylotter, well..well..well, it was kinda irritating knowing that they are already here for a couple of years.. and they should know that a survey type of questions isn't allowed here..
well, I just don't answer to those non-sense questions though.. I always find another discussions which I find more interesting to answer.

Hello, Hatley.
As always, there are people who only want to make some easy money here in myLot. Therefore, they do not have the trouble of creating a good response for the discussions, finding a good subject. They just take a look around and put whatever they see: "Do you use mobile phone?" - "Do you like Internet?". Of course I like the Internet, otherwise I would not be here, would I?
I hope you get good responses to your discussions, and not just one liners. But they are the ones who are being damaged, since they earn less. I, personally, have nothing against it. If somebody wants to reply with one or twelve lines, it won't change how am I going to react about it.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Yeah, I know it seems like the same discussions are always making apperances on here. Of course some people that are new to my lot may not have seen them before but if you have been here more than a month or two you have probably seen them at least twice. Actually, I only saw the color one once I think. I'm not sure why people think they are going to be paid for one liners.

I guess maybe they didn't realise or check the rules to see that you wouldn't be paid for one-liners. I think they post just to post, you know? The other night i was on here, and someone's post was "goodnight everyone i'm going to bed" or something like that. And i thought what the? How could anyone discuss that...especially if the person already left and went to bed!!

Don't be so much frustrated. Some of oneliners may not read the rules for many reasons. I hope that they would read this discussion and change their posting behavior.

I don't like one liner discussions either.
Most times my discussions revolve around personal
family issues and daily life observations.
But on occasion I do throw a nice easy
one out there. I don't get lots of responses
cause they're just boring! But some days my
brain is just too tired to care!

ROFLMAO! I've been so annoyed by this myself! I actually have a couple of people in my "friends" list, and they'll start 5+ one-liners a day! It drives me bonkers! If I'm away for a few days, my inbox fills up with them, forcing me to delete without opening.
I have no problem with the one-line discussions with merit, just not enough words to stretch it longer. But as I have expressed in the past (even considered my own discussion on it!), the "how do you like your eggs" versions disgust and irritate me. Who cares how I like my eggs? Who cares what my favorite fruit, ice cream, or colors are?
The way I see it, the one-liners aren't about making money right away. They are done by noobs just trying to reach 500 posts, and everything that entails. You see that I have less than 400 myself, and I've been a member since January, but I log in at least 4-5 times per week, and respond to several discussions each time. One-line responses? Only if nothing else needs to be said! One-line discussions? No way. LOL, why only one line, if 50 will work even better?

Good day.. I think most of us if not all may have been "guilty" with this but sometimes it really does take only a one liner to get your thoughts through. I mean if one would expound when a one liner would do, it might seem like overdoing it. my 1 cent.

If you are in a one on one conversation, a one liner is fine. But you need more than a one liner for a discussion. When you use one line, then you usually get a one line back. I've seen lots of those here at MyLot. I read the FAQ before even posting, but it looks like lots of people here never did. They came here with one thing on their mind - getting rich. And they think they can do it with one-liner spam. I think, when they post lots of one liner discussions, they are spamming. I hate to check the new discussions and see a whole line from one person. I guess they stay online all day.

i agree with you. i really don't like to answer one liner discussions. and as much as i can, i also don't want to respond to a discussion with just one line. maybe some mylotters think that they will earn more by posting too many discussions. they didn't know that mylot put more weight on how long and interesting your discussions or your responses are. have a good day Hatley. -NEIL

I ignore those discussions as best I can, though it can be annoying when you scan through "today's top" and those are always at the top! A few friends I've referred to the site thought that's what MyLot was about, I had to show them how to search for interesting people and friend them, so that there is a wealth of good discussion in the "friends started" page.
It's annoying, but ultimately MyLot is worth the effort, for me anyway.
