counting cards is not illegal as long as there is no outside device used. casinos may prevent card counters from playing to so that the casino can prevent losses due to a card counter. and casinos are private property so they can do want they want to. there is no us law to prevent card counting.

I do not see where that s illegal as long as you count them in your head and remember what has been play why would that be illegal.

It appears that the answer would be....no, it's not illegal, however they can and will happily throw you out if they suspect you of card counting.
