The movie Gabriel was released in 2007 as a small scale production in comparison to many other massive movie productions of the year. With a budget of merely $150,000 to play around with this movie focuses more on the story and fine details of the topic that the movie is trying to convey.
The summary of the story is: The space between the living world and the other planes of existence is known as the Purgatory, a place torn between the forces of Light and Darkness. For timeless age's both the Arc Angels of Heaven and the hordes from Hell, the Fallen Angels have battled on this turf for ultimate dominance. Although in the time that the movie is set the Fallen Angels have claimed Purgatory for many, many years and have laid claim to the souls of all the humans who pass through. Many of the Arc Angels have tried to reclaim this void and turn it back into the Light but have failed. Only the Arch Angel Gabriel now stands between its total loss to Darkness and its redemption back into the Light. Although many other small storylines spin off in this movie, the main event is killing Sammael, the leader of the Fallen Angels in Purgatory and returning it to the Light.
Although this movie does not have the greatest special effects and well known actors, if you indeed like to watch a movie that has a bit of depth and appreciation for film then you won't be overly disappointed. On the flip side, if this kind of thing doesn't tickle your fancy then you will be sorely disappointed.
I personally think this movie could have had 120% more potential should the funds had been available to the production behind it, but otherwise it is a decent movie to watch and I have a strong belief that we should all support small scale productions so that they may flourish and bring greater content to our screens.
Comments are of course welcome!
