What's the worst to spill on your keyboard?

Last night my partner spilled wine all over the keyboard. I lefted the keyboard up and it literally dripped out of it onto the table. I cleaned it the best I could without taking the keys off (cos I know I'd never be able to put them back in) and it's still working fine except there is a slightly sticky film on the keys and I can smell stale wine What is the worst thing you've ever spilled on a keyboard? Would you say wine is worse to spill than say..milk?

I have never spilled anything on my key board. I have dropped crumbs from eating on the key board and that is not good. I think fly poop is the worst on a key board.

The worst I ever spilt on my keyboard was coffee. I was careless and hit it with my elbow when I was cleaning off the desk and sure enough over went the coffee. I was rather mad at myself for it. I tried to shake out what I could but the keys were hard to push down when trying to type. I ended up just getting a new keyboard instead of dealing with the tough typing where the key stuck.

I once spilled a hot cup of tea over my keyboard!! I did the same what you did.
I tried to clean it as much as possible.
I didn't know how to open the keyboard and clean it properly but luckily my brother was there for me.
There's a think transparent plastic sheet kind of think inside which had all those metallic lines who actually carry the information to CPU.. It was all burnt because of that hot cup of tea.
At the end of the week I had to change it cause none of the keys where working and believe me it is really annoying when your keyboard doesn't work. I almost felt like handicapped!!
Man it was a disaster it worked for couple of days
As a result now I know how to open the keyboard and clean it up..

The worst I've done is water. My roomie says coffee and soda are probably the worst, but, then again, macs have much more sensitive keyboards it seems.
for the stickiness, just wipe down with a wet wipe and that should deal with that.
the smell, maybe a spray with Frebreeze?

None so far... and i am glad about that... i try not put any glass or bottle with liquid near the computer... since accidents do happen... and right now... i am using a laptop... so if anything liquid spills on it... for sure it will not only ruin the keyboard.. but the whole system as well...

good day.. I spilled coffee in my laptop. Good thing it's just a small amount and it didn't harm my unit or else my pocket would get sour. I turned it upside down immediately and got some tissues to absorb by osmosis the spilled coffee.

I have learned my lesson from a friend. It was his Sony laptop and once he spilled hot coffee all over it, on the keyboard. but since it was a laptop, it went through, deep, and his laptop was of no use.
After a few days it started but the CD drive wasn't working. He had bought that laptop in USA and now, there was no Sony authorized service center in India (that time).
I have seen him going through all the pain; so I always take care of the keyboard while having a cup of coffee or tea.

the worst thing that happened to one of my keyboards in the form of a spill - was not actually done by me nor my beloved husband - but my child. my child willfully poured elmer's white glue all over my keyboard. It was a fairly new keyboard and my first wireless. I was not happy! some of the glue peeled off nicely but some did get down inside, so I popped off all the keys and scratched and peeled to the best of my ability. the keyboard never looked quite right after that and dust stuck to it more easily. it just looked shoddy. but it still functioned and I used that thing long after the lettering was worn from the keys. I finally got a new keyboard recently and am making sure no glue comes even remotely close to it!

All things are bad. The worst is something with sugar in it as you noticed. It makes everything sticky, however I have had a huge spill, just drips that make typing annoying.
Once I spilled a 1/2 glass of water and it permanently killed my keyboard. I had to buy a new one! No kidding!

Yuk, that must be awful. Now that 4 months have pasted is it still sticky or did
you get it all off?
I have never spilt anything on my keyboard but I do have a few coffee spots on them
once in awhile and I just unplug my keyboard and wipe them off. It has never been
sticky or anything.
I don't think I would be able to type if my keys were stickies. It would bug me too
much.
Alrighty then, talk to you later,
your friend, chris.

The worst I ever spilled over the keyboard of a Laptop was coffee with milk. First I couldn`t switch it on but after a while - roughly one day it worked normal. All together I could smell the coffee a month and some keys of the keyboard are still sticky. I guess but never tried that something like Fanta or Coke is worst.
Maybe somebody has an old keyboard tries it and tells us??
