If You Liked The Da Vinci Code, What Other Books Did You Like?

I loved this book and haven't really read many others like it. I don't normally like fiction, but I do like fiction somewhat based on history. I'd like it even more if I could find a true story that's got twists and turns and is well written. What else would you recommend if you liked this book? I read "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult fairly recently and enjoyed that one. It has a lot of twists and turns to it and is also fairly long. Although, I don't have any requirement that audiobooks be long. Sometimes that gets annoying if they're just too long. But despite being 18 CDs long, 19 minutes was really well written and kept me fascinated the entire time. Sort of like Da Vinci Code did.

If you read DVC, I also recommend you to read "Angels & Demons" also by Dan Brown. For me it is better than the DVC. It's an excellent novel on Science & Religion. You must read it. If you want I can give you the E-Book. However, the format is not that nice. I have the E-Books of his other Books, Deception Point and Digital Fortress, still to be read. I normally like fictions. The most important thing what I would think we should get from a book is the "Moral of Story". That's why I like Harry Potter also even though it is a complete imagination.

What's the format of the e-books? I have an e-book reader that will read .txt files to me, and I like books in that format because it helps me to improve my reading skills. I would really appreciate having the e-books if it's some format that I could open and be able to read with some program I have. Thanks!

It's in PDF format. You only need the Acrobat Reader which is available in any PC.

I just loved the book. Facts and fiction are beautifully complied and presented in a such a manner that we are made to feel that it's a truth! There in lies the beauty of the book. I just finished reading THE DILBERT FUTURE by Scott Adams. He has done a brilliant job in mixing farce and wit and through humor has successfully penned down most scary future of man kind. Its a fun read. I would like to read Nineteen Minutes. Thanks.

I know this is an old book, and probably many of you read in school but I just like reading Margaret Atwoods "THe Handsmaid Tale," its so grim and I can definately see aspects of it occuring it and its like a reminder to me and Im about womens personal rights and I just would never want that for my children.

I did read that one, not in school, just on my own. I agree, it is an excellent read and if I remember correctly, it wasn't very long either. Excellent recommendation.

Have you read the prequel to The Da Vinci Code -- Angels & Demons? It's a great read. Better I think than The Da Vinci Code even. Like you I don't read a lot of fiction either. Well aside from the Avalon series from Marion Zimmer Bradley and the Harry Potter series :)

I definitely want to read Angels and Demons now. And I'm thinking I'll also eventually read Digital Fortress as well.

I also listened to Da Vinci Code. Now, I knew it was fiction, and I am far and away more upset that all these people seem to take it as truth, then the actual story bothered me. Do you listen to Audio books? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zounds_group/

I love listening to audio books. I always hated reading before due to visual problems, but now that I read on audio I love it. I will check out that group.

If you really like non-fiction, why don't you look for Holy Blood, Holy Grail. That is where The Da Vinci Code was based. You will also realize that Dan Brown didn't really need a lot of effort to write his book. Holy Blood is more interesting reading. Just be careful, its full of forced hypotheses. It would be better if you also read commentaries on this book, the serious scholarly ones, to gain a more rounded perspective.

I have wanted to read that one. And I think I saw it on audio somewhere too if I remember correctly, I'll have to get it. Don't worry, I tend to take all this kind of stuff with a grain of salt. I'm at atheist so I'm not too rattled by the religious stuff, just interested by it.

This is a great one of browns, suspense and mistery. I like all his collections and its highly fictious.
