First off I think you should go out and buy the book What to expect when your expecting. This will help you some along with give you the basic check lists of what your going to need. Now it's been about 4 1/2 yrs since my youngest was a baby. But I do remember I bought two pkgs of new born diapers, a box of wipes, a pkg of size 1 incase the baby is on the big size and hey you'll eventually need them, Bottles, onsies, ok clothes in general, basinet and all the sheets and accessories for it, and many more like a car seat stroller.. there are a lot of things your going to need. but if you are in the begining stages what I would do is save money up for these things and purschase them towards the end of your second trimester. Most improtantly you need to find an great obgyn and hospital that you feel comfortable with. Good luck and you'll learn as you go. trust me it's not easy but it's full of rewards.

I agree with the "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I was never around babies much until I got pregnant so I had no clue about anything baby. That book really helped me out big time. I also took classes at the hospital while I was pregnant and those helped big time too. You need all the basics- clothes, diapers, powder, rash cream, bottles, pacifiers, blankets, car seat, stroller, crib, changing table. Maybe talk with your ob about having a birth plan. It doesn't always go as planned but it helps calm you down knowing that you have an idea about what's gonna happen when you give birth.

the most important thing you can do right now is take care of yourself honey. make sure you eat right and drink lots of water. walking is a great way to get your body ready to have a baby. first baby you need everything. clothes, diapers, lotions, wipes and everything else. so i would say start buying those things now so you can get ready. it would be nice to have a baby shower, even if you have to give yourself one. that helps with getting things for the baby

FIRST !!! CONGRATS TO YOU AND NEW BABY............ hmmmm, well you've only 2 months to go. first, i would look for all the websites you can find for freebies. some you can join will give you coupons for diapers, formula, etc. i will send you a private message. i don't have them right here very handily. second, do you have someone who can assist you on a daily basis? even if it's by phone. a mom, an aunt, a close friend? third, the thrift stores are wonderful for finding inexpensive items: crib, changing table, even car seats (make sure they are in perfect working condition !) forth, i would check with your OB about support groups you might join. being with a group of other new mothers can help your understanding. i had been told i would never conceive. i did, when i was 28 years old. i joined a support group and i was the eldest at 29 ! fifth, is the baby's father in the picture ? what assistance can/will he give you?

Excellent advice! You took the words right out of my mind. There are freecycle sites, I have given so many items away there in great condition. I am not sure where you live but here in Dutchess NY, our local Police Station gives away brand new car seats free of charge for baby safety. You must have a car seat here in NY upon discharge from the hospital... or guess what... can't take that precious little baby home! I wouldn't go ahead and purchse any formula right away (if you choose not to nurse), you may wind up with a ton of formula that your baby's tummy cannot handle.. Happened to me , and over here you cannot return any baby formula or foods! Good luck, relax, and Congrats!

Wow, I have learnt alot from the both of you. Thanks for the sharing. Our government did not give any free car seat. We have to buy it ourselves. But it is not a MUST here. I have not buy one yet, but will buy one. :)

hi there, I am expecting my baby this month! Haha...I think you should start to buy your baby stuff. I spent July buying all sorts of stuff for my baby. I also did the washing for my baby clothes, towels, handkerchief, cradle and so on. I am going to pack my bag and also my baby's bag to bring to hospital this weekend in case any emergency. I think I will just sit back and relax after this to welcome my newborn. :) All the best to you!

Congratulations in advance? Do you know your baby's gender? If no, you have to buy baby products with neutral colors and start decorating your nursery now. Take care...

Kids do not come with an instruction manual. They make mistakes and so will you. Just pray a whole lot. Also, start looking up places online like freecycle to obtain free things you need for the baby. If you know how to sew make your childs' clothing...Believe it or not, having my first kid 16 years ago when I was 19 got me into learning how to sew. I taught myself with no help out all. Stick with all natural products, if you can barely pronounce the ingredients on any product its probably not worth it. If you are a bit of a hippie...you can look up online hippie mama's there all over the place. I wish I had some of the neat ideas' that they share when my kids were born.

Congrats. Well for my first we adopted her and we only had 2 weeks until she was born. The very first thing I bought was hair bows cause we knew it was a girl. The main things we bought was a carseat/stroller, onesies, diapers, wipes, a few outfits, jammies, bottles if you aren't going to nurse. Those are the critical things. I agree buy the book what to expect when you are expecting. There are so many other little things but if you are going to have showers you can see what you get. Good luck.

My second baby is due in December. With my 1st we took help when it was offered. We borrowed a crib, and alot of other items. They may be second hand, but they still work. And you will save a ton of MONEY. One important thing I learned. Sleep when your baby does. Prepare a bunch of bottles at one time. This will help when you are so tired you cannot see straight. Thrift shops are terrific for clothing.
