There are 5 ways I find very effective in relieving stress from work.
First one is to do some breathing exercises. It is one of the easiest yet effective stress reliever. Deep breathing anytime of the day can effectively release tension, relax your mind and body, and can make anyone feel better and lighter. If you want to de-stress in an instant. I suggest you do some breathing exercises, anytime and anywhere.
Second is through positive visualizations and being optimistic. When I feel bad or anxious about some tasks or procedures I need to do, I usually visualize myself doing the task/s very well. This can actually give you positive results. In a way, this is some sort of a practice and a mind set to master what task you are anxious about. For me this is a very good way to make yourself feel good and less stressed, more prepared, and perform very well.
Third is doing some exercise. Aside from promoting good weight control, it is also an effective way to deviate the mind from all the stressful thoughts.
Fourth is music therapy. Listening to music is a very good way to calm the mind and relax th body.
Lastly, I love to spend time and hang out with the persons I like when I feel stressed. Having a talk with someone I like makes me feel better.
I hope all of this will be effective for you too. ^_^

I would agree that stress is the number 1 killer right now .Like me i used to work in a call center and stress is our number one enemy .I usually take a rest from my work and from every thing that is bothering for at least an hour .So that my brain can rest a bit.

i am a stay at home mother of an active four year old toddler and you bet how stressful it is these days.often times i take a pause from all the household chores and just kind of shut off the world around me and stare in the air. and when tough times like when my kid is doing something that really piss me off i just take a deeep breath and closed my eyes for a few seconds and it does work.

I take time out for myself. I do self hypnosis and meditation. I spend time with people who aren't stressed out. Meditation and hypnosis work the best for me.
