I'm planning to buy a laptop. What brand of laptop is the best to buy? The best means, laptop that will last for years. I've been using my computer since 2004 and it never failed me. Only because of trojans that i had to reinstall all programs on my pc more than 5 times now. Well, Is it toshiba, dell, acer, sony, or something else? What specs should i look for? please tell me the exact model of the laptop so i can check it out too. thanks.

I have been using a Toshiba "Satellite" for four years now. It has been working very well, and I am very happy with it. I take it along when I travel abroad too. Check it out at the computer stores if you will like it too.
Have a nice day !

I suggest looking at the Dells on Bestbuy.com, they have good deals. I think any popular brand is good as long as you're happy with the size of the harddrive (I prefer 120-250 GB) and enough memory (2 GB is good), and a good processor (Intel Dual Core) and enough RAM.

It surely depends on what work you want from a laptop. Many people just mistake that the only difference between a PC and a LAPTOP is that the other is portable and has nothing much in difference.
This concept is wrong
Laptops are based on kinds
Presentations and business related- Go for LENOVO (IBM)
Multimedia and Entertainment- HP, Acer and other brands on this line
Tablet- IBM and Toshiba (the laptops which have a rotating screen)
GAMING- Asus, Alienware (which might be very expensive)
Style- Sony ( but u cant expect it to work very nice as it has very less tuffness)
The mid range laptops come in Hp and Lenovo(IBM) and Acer.
Portable Laptops can be
ASUS EEE (which is very small and portable)
FUJITSU LIFEBOOK which is a tablet!.
Dell laptops are okay too some of the basics which completely have something for you as a computer does is Vostro! or something like tat!
