Saturday night I went with my sister to my nieces birthday party. Her boyfriend is a massage therapist. Well the party went for a while then instead of asking for donations for the drinks/food he offered a five minute massage for donations! So I took him up on it and had my very first massage. I love parts of it but when he dug into my knotted up shoulders I thought I would pass out! But once past that I almost fell asleep it was so relaxing. Have you had a massage? Did you like it and would you do it again?

Yes I have had a professional massage (or 6) and I COMPLETELY recommend it. My first one was, well, It was ok, during, but afterward, I was giddy. I was so relaxed that I probably shouldn't have driven so close was I to an altered state. I drove anyway, but the whole time I was giggly...

Probably the release of lactic acid from the muscles (at a guess) I always get that advice too. Seriously though, if you get the chance, go for the 45 minute to an hour full body massage massage. It is a wonder.

I used to work with someone who went to school for massage techniques, or what have you. I didn't ever get a massage from her, but I have been massaged by one of my friend's boyfriends. He did this thing where your whole body just relaxed, it was amazing!

Hi jillhill.
That was really cool that your sister's boyfriend offered massages at the party. Wow, I've never been to a party where that happened!
Yes, I've had massages, and I dearly love them! I think a person should have massages on a regular basis. I once had a very dear friend who told me that a single massage "changed" his life! He had felt so uptight and the massage just banished all his worries and tension.
Most massages make me go to sleep, too, I simply cannot fight it. It's overwhelming usually. I usually feel better for at least a couple of weeks after having a massage. I am sure that people who get them regularly must be totally relaxed, centered individuals.
I haven't had a message recently, but I'd sure like to go get one!

Ive never had a massage!im none too sure that I would like it,but I wouldnt rule it out as a treat, but you say the same as my son,he went to a little oriental lady for a massage as he was running the London marathon, and he wanted all the knots in his muscles unknotted.he said the same thing that when she touched a spot that was knotted with tension, that it was painful!!and he came out of there feeling sore, but it was a beneficial massage for him.

I used to work in the payroll office of a Hospice, every now and then they would bring in people to give the office employees a massage.
Well, they would take us into a dark office, and work their magic. I am like you with the stress in the shoulders, I have/had that too. It does hurt, but once pass that it is all good. We also would get rikki theraphy, now that will put you to sleep I love it, actually I could use one now.

Glad you enjoyed the party and the massage.
I did have a massage a few years ago and it was ok. I know have 3 bulging discs and wouldn't run the risk of someone pushing on my back, shoulders or lower back. Along with this disc problem comes a pinched nerve but it doesn't bother me all the time. That's a good thing! I was in physical therapy for 3 months last winter which was not even close to a massage but it did feel good.

My friend and business partner was a massage freak and he would take me to these massage spas where they pamper your body like it were royalty. Relaxing? I think I was relaxing more than I needed to since I would drop off to sleep for over an hour and wake up really refreshed as though every stress in my body had just been squeezed out.
