I agree with you. The Gil Grissom character is the backbone of the show. My wife and I watched CSI for the few episodes that the Grissom character was replace by the other guy (Liev Schiever or something like that). We didn't like it at all.

When he leaves, I will quit viewing it. I hated it when they started messing with the original characters.

Yeah, sad isn't it? The show will not be the the same without him. I think they will have jumped the shark with this one. I'm still upset that they killed Gary's character off. Totally messed up. I don't know which the direction the show is going, but I may not be following for very long.

It's kinda sad that he is leaving. I'll still watch it because I like those kinds of shows. The one that plays kathryn is good so maybe it will still be a good show. The way I would of ended it is to have sara to come back and her and Grissom get married and leave but that would be me am a hopless romantic. It can't be any worse than the Miami one with that one guy. oy vey. I still watch it even though I do not like him because I like to figure out who did what and how and when.

I wonder who will replace him. I suppose he has to go to be with Sara. That would be the only reason I would accept him leaving. Any other reason would be unacceptable. And then there is who is going to be the new head of CSI. Are they going to call someone in from outside and would it be someone who had a guest appearance on the show.

You say Grissom makes CSI different from CSI: Las Vegas. In reality, those two are the same thing.

I can't believe he is leaving the show! Does anybody know the real reason he is leaving the show? I don't know if I am going to watch to the show once he is gone. I guess it depends on who is his replacement and how I feel about him or her.

It makes me sad, I really like his character. But ten years is a really long time to play a character, so I guess he just felt it was time to move on, although he is still going to be an executive producer and may come back for guest appearances, according to what I read. At least they aren't going to kill him off like they did poor Warrick (...alas! I knew him well...). We will have him for at least 10 episodes next season before he leaves, and Sara will be back for at least three episodes at the beginning of the season, so at least they get a chance to tie up loose ends in the stories and not just have an abrupt replacement as sometimes happens when actors leave or get fired between seasons.

I heard that the other day and couldn't believe my ears - I'm a great Grissom fan and can't imagine what the show is going to be like - I'm sure I'll still watch but it's going to mean a huge change.

I haven't been watching much TV through the summer but was looking forward to getting back to my shows in the fall. Now I 'm not sure if I will watch CSI or not as I agree he was the main ca rector in the show.I guess It depends who replaces him but I'm really disappointed that he is leaving

I'm sure they'll try to make something work, but a Grissom-like character is exactly what the other versions of the show lack. Not a good sign for CBS, as they look like they're headed toward a bitter end for a popular show.
