If one more thing breaks I'll, I'll...

Well I don't know what I'll do, but it won't be pretty. In the last week, I've had more things break than I can count. (Well, ok, I can count them, but I don't want to.) First it was my VCR (yes, I still use the VCR), then the coffee pot, then the microwave, then my alarm clock, now it's my crock pot. (After taking the pot roast out of the freezer- I actually remembered to take it out. Doesn't it figure?)
So what's next? I'm so angry. I don't just have a big stack of money to go out and replace all these things. I refuse to take money out of savings, I've been working so hard to save, I'd rather go without. I'll replace the coffee pot and alarm clock- the rest can wait.

I know what you mean. I have had weeks like that and you just want to scream!!!! My mixer broke the other day and now I am waiting to see what is next. I'm crossing my fingers that nothing else breaks, cause I just don't have the funds to replace them right now. Hope that is the end of your streak of bad luck. Good luck and best wishes!

My emergency 'small appliance replacement' fund is dry. Some of these things are going to have to wait. Thanks.

don't EVER ask what else can go wrong, or you'll find out. it can always be worse. i've had bad days at work. the computers went down so they sent us to lunch. the electricity got knocked out because a truck hit the electrical pole, so have to go to the bathroom in the dark. (I carry a flashlight for that) had problems finding packages that were ready to go out. one of our trucks was backing up and a truck hauling logs broke a restraint. logs rolled off and one log rolled behind our truck backing up causing an accident. the driver got out and gas was spraying him.

That's not good. I remember times hoping the power would go out so we could leave work early. It never turned out that way- they always found something for us to do in the dark and with no computers!

yeah, you can't get off that easy. we had to stay until the power came on and work later to make up for the loss of time.

Oh I am sorry for that misfortunes in your household appliances. I think you really need to check all of your working appliances to really know what is their status. Maybe it is right time to do an inventory of your appliances that you might need to have it repaired to prolong its usage. sometimes we got used to our machines not knowing that they are already near breaking point already. Well replacement for the broken once will be prioritized according to your needs and wants.

I didn't buy them all at the same time, so I sure didn't expect them all to go at the same time. Replacement will definitely be gradual.

I hate weeks like that.
Do you have a local freecycle group you could join to see if you can get the things replaced?
We still have one VCR in the house, it's on a small tv but at least we have it just in case. I know there are some movies I have been trying to get from the library and all they have them on is video. Too funny.
Crossing my fingers that your week will turn around STARTING NOW!!!

Thanks! I did check for a freecycle group, but there is no activity in it. Maybe I'll look for one a little further away, or break the ice by posting some stuff on it.

Well may I make a suggestion to you? How about going to goodwill and seeing if they might have a few of the appliances that you seek. It will be cheap and goodwill offers returns, you'll just have to check the return policy that usually hangs close to the register. I hope this helps!

Oh, poor you, Sillychick! I hope that's the end of the crappy things ... usually stuff happens in threes, NOT thirty-threes! We've had a month of horrible things happening too - not all breakages, but unexpected expenses. Our leaking shower needed repairing and retiling, our son had a minor car accident, a lamp was broken, the lawnmower needed repairs - plus there were dental and medical bills and our car and our son's car were broken into. It does seem everything happens at once sometimes, just to test us. Hopefully you'll have some nice things happen now.

Thanks for the empathy. Sounds like you're having a rough time too. Hope things improve for us both.

I completely feel where you are coming from! I had this happen to me last month!
First it was the washing machine, then the tires on our car, then the right brake/rotor, then the stereo receiver, my curling iron, the lamp on our projector...
Being military does have it's advantages sometimes. People are always moving and getting rid of stuff.
My husband's work friend moved in with her boyfriend and gave us a really nice washer and dryer set. Another is moving to Germany and gave us a whole surround sound set because she didn't like having the wires around her house after her husband bought it. The funny thing is, as soon as we got the new receiver ours started working again...after weeks of not working!
The projector lamp is still under warrenty so we got that mailed to us.
We got a pretty good deal on two new tires on our car while we were in Mississippi. Tire shops will actually negotiate...which I didn't know until I stated how much we paid in Jersey. I was about to walk out when they said that they would match the price. It's a good thing too because when they took off the old tires the wire was showing! They wouldn't have made it back home.
We bought the brakes and rotor from the auto parts store and my dad helped my husband replace them which saved us hundreds of dollars!
I haven't replaced my curling iron yet but it really isn't a priority right now.
I was really upset when everything started breaking at once. We didn't have the money either. It really did all work out in the end.
Sounds like you are due some good things coming your way soon!

When it rains, it pours. Hope your streak of bad luck is over. I know exactly how you feel. It always seems like everything has to go wrong all at once. You are smart not to replace non-essentials right away.

Ain't that the truth! I hope it's over, too. I'm scared to use anything... maybe I should turn the computer off, just in case.

I don't know how it happened, I just put in a tape and it won't play, won't rewind, won't do anything. Frustrating.

If it makes you feel any better, I've had things break on me too, but my appliances are a lot larger than yours. First it was Washing Machine, then it was my Refrigerator followed by my Lawn Mower. I don't have any money right now to replace these items, so I have a teeny tiny refrigerator sitting in my kitchen, which is almost useless since I can't save any leftovers. As for my clothes, They're pilling up on the basement floor until I can get to the Laundry Mack. My Lawn Mower started working again, but only after I bought a new one. Now I have two lawn Mowers. If that's not bad enough, I can't get the mail man to deliver my mail. I've been waiting three weeks to receive one particular item, and I know it's the Post Office and not the company since I've had this problem before. Talk about frustrating!

It sounds like you had a run of bad luck to say the least. Have you been able to replace these things?
I don't like when things just break, but I must that I ejoy breaking things sometimes. Things that no one wants. I find it relaxing.

It must be really wierd, all things breaking out at the same time. Take it in the right spirit. Maybe something really bad would have befallen your family, and these little things breaking has removed it from your life. Dont let it depress you, I know money is tight, so replace what is necesary only. It takes sooooo long for us to save a dollar or a rupee, but when it goes, it goes in huge amounts in a flash. Just say your prayers and keep faith. Things will work out soon. I am a firm beliver that when things break in the house, bad luck goes with it. Smile for we never know what would have befallen us otherwise.
