I will plant more plants and trees in our backyard.
Mother earth needs more plants and trees because
illegal logging in our areas are causing floods in
our country. What is your contribution for her?

Doing little things can ripple a lot when done by a lot of people.
For instance, not using straws when not needed can save enough energy yearly to power a small country.
Segregation reduces waste by allowing recycle centers to recycle the contents of your trash more efficiently.

We recently moved to a home with a green roof. Our roof is sod! This house is twice the size of our old one, but costs only half as much to heat and cool. We rarely need the air conditioner in the summer, just on a few days when the humidity is really high (like today).
In addition, we are looking at installing a geothermal system for heating and cooling. It would only require a small pump to move the fluid through the system, and that could be powered by a solar panel. That system would keep us from using any petroleum products or electricity at all to heat and cool our home. Unfortunately the system is quite expensive, and could take about 15 years to recoup the cost. We are hoping to get a low interest loan to purchase and install the system.
We have also planted a large garden this year. We can grow our own veggies and not have to drive to the grocery store as often.
